MISSED PENALTY! Mark Noble jogs up to the penalty spot, waits for Hugo Lloris to dive, then coolly slots the ball in the other direction. So cool, in fact, that he puts it a good yard wide. Oops.

PENALTY! Kevin Nolan swivels inside the penalty area and crashes a shot into the arms of Kyle Naughton. Chris Foy points to the spot, but he hasn’t had enough fun yet – it’s a red card! Wow.

Where are Mauricio Pochettino’s fabled pressing tactics? Tottenham – and in particular Danny Rose at left back – are standing and watching as the hosts charge forward.

Kouyate nips in front of Kaboul, stretches his neck muscles and stabs a header at goal… Just wide. Spurs are rattled.

Collins leaps into the Upton Park sky, only to see his header fly into the fans behind the Spurs goal.

West Ham continue to press. Downing whips in a delicious cross but Vaz Te can't divert his header into the bottom corner.

The corner breaks to Ricardo Vaz Te at the back post, but his volley is horrible and smashes a Spurs player in the face.

New man Cheikhou Kouyate wins a corner. The big men from the back jog forward.

West Ham are growing as a force with each passing minute. Lamela, Eriksen and Lennon are struggling to get a touch.

That’s more like it. Cole causes havoc inside the Spurs area, the ball bounces across the six-yard box but no one is on hand to tuck home.

James Collins crashes a clearance towards the opposition corner flag. Come on, someone do something good.

Joey O’Brien falls onto his knees inside the area, but it’s a result of poor co-ordination rather than an illegal challenge. Pretty scrappy stuff. Just how Big Sam likes it.
