Into the final minute of half-time, Everton keep the ball and win a cheap throw, and then Sunderland can't win the ball back. Sunderland are rotten, and that's full time.

The free kick comes to nothing. Everton whack it to the halfway line.

Borini is shoulder charged by Distin, and he goes down easily. It's a foul, but Distin is booked. It's 30 yards out.

Borini chases down Coleman, and his clearance is deflected for an Everton throw.

The referee, weirdly, books Larsson. For taking the free kick too early? How odd. Larsson takes, and it falls to Bardsley who slices a poor shot into a defender and Everton break.

Sunderland win a free kick about 40 yards out.

McGeady breaks, sends the ball into the box for Barkley to collect, but his shot is blocked. Everton now have the ball in Sunderland's half, but are happy to play it back to Howard to smash out of play.

Everton are sitting back to absorb the pressure, and they might find a chance to break forward as Sunderland get desperate.

Wickham makes room for himself on the edge of the box, holding off Stones, and his low shot is deflected off his boot and Howard gets down quickly to save. Borini then cuts onto his right and tries to curl the ball just inside the post, but it's wide for a goal kick.

Alonso is closed out by Coleman and McGeady on the left wing and wins a corner for Sunerland. Larsson takes, and after an undignified scramble Distin puts his foot through it.

Ki has an athletic chance, volleying a shot inside the box over the bar. It wasn't close.

Ki has a chance now. He's inside the box, and sidefoots a shot towards the corner, but it's not wide enough and Howard saves.

Deulofeu is substituted for McGeady.

GOAL! Sunderland 0-1 Everton. Wes Brown scores an own goal. It had been coming, certainly from this player. Gerard Deulofeu again beats Alonso on the right, sends in a cross on the byline, and Brown chests the ball in at the near post.

Barkle makes space for himself outside the box, and slides the ball wide of goal.

Naismith cuts inside from the left and has his shot blocked. Everton retain the ball.

Ki has a shot from distance that is low and in to the corner, but Howard gets across smartly, and gathers the rebound before he's closed down.

Colback is swapped for Larsson.

Barry quite obviously barges Ki to the ground and looks aggrieved when it's noticed by the ref.

Baines sends in a cross, but it's deflected behind for Baines to take a corner. It comes to Distin near the penalty spot, but he heads over.
