Good afternoon and welcome to our LIVE coverage of Newcastle's match against Norwich at St James' Park.

The TV cameras keep hovering on Chris Hughton, seemingly expecting him to do something - anything. But he's not budging.

Very little spirit among the Norwich players - the ball is just getting batted around in midfield at the moment with no intent or purpose.

Newcastle making a marked effort to hang on to the ball so far in this half. Norwich not getting a sniff.

Newcastle break forward but Ameobi's eventual shot is weak and straight at Ruddy.

Elmander is now playing on the right, with Redmond taking Pilkington's place on the left. Even at 2-0 down Chris Hughton not happy trying crazy ideas like *GASP* having two strikers.

Gary Hooper gets onto the loose ball after it ricochets off the wall at that free kick, but his powerful volley is well wide to the left.

Free kick for Norwich from the Pilkington incident - Redmond takes, but it doesn't get past the wall.

Warm applause for Pilkington as he's stretchered off. Johan Elmander is his replacement.

The first move of the half sees Pilkington pull up sharply with what's clearly a hamstring pull - he'll be off momentarily. No coming back from that and he'll be lucky to play again this year.

We're back under way at St James' Park, and lord knows what Chris Hughton will have said to his men at half-time.

The whistle goes for the end of the half, and it's a terrific 45 minutes for Newcastle - they weren't on top throughout, but looked consistently more dangerous going forwards, and are well work their 2-0 lead.

The corner comes in and is punched clear where Tiote is waiting to try a volley - horrific slice and he comes within a few yards of collecting the corner flag! The second time in five minutes a Newcastle striker has been able to laugh at himself for a woeful miss.

Moments from half-time and Ameobi almost makes it three! Great pass from Remy sets him up for a shot that's stinging towards the top left corner until Ruddy tips it high and wide.

Pilkington tries to work an opening up on the left, but he's surrounded by four black and white shirts and has nobody to speak of in support.

Jeers from the crowd as Remy decides to have a go from 30+ yards - and it's one that Jonny Wilkinson would be proud of, going so high it's almost out of the stadium. Even the player himself laughs at its awfulness.

Ameobi puts in a ball from the right, but Ruddy takes it confidently. The Norwich keeper has been at least partially at fault for both goals today.

Newcastle bossing it now, but Gouffran's ball in for Ameobi finds only the hands of John Ruddy.

Crowd strangely quiet since that goal - perhaps heading off to the bar/toilet already ahead of half time, with the game seemingly in the bag.

Newcastle had been in the ascendancy and the goal is just reward - hard to see any way back for Norwich here today.

2-0! THE MAGPIES IN CHARGE! Remy released up the right by Ameobi and gets a wonderful ball in - where Ameobi is waiting to head it. He does so, hits it straight at Ruddy who can only parry, and Gouffran is there to tap in from two yards.
