16'
Redmond threads a ball forward for Hooper. He spreads the ball right for Hoolahan, whose cross is utterly rubbish.
15'
Villa's cross is badly cleared. Villa press a little, but Yobo gets a foot in and clears.
14'
Norwich exact pressure until Redmond loses possession. This is a good start from Norwich, and that helps against a team as bad as Villa.
13'
Villa try a few short passes and give the ball away, and Norwich come forward...
11'
Weimann's cross from the right is headed out. Bacuna tries a long throw, Benteke heads on to Agbonlahor and tumbles under a challenge from Yobo, but he falls easily.
10'
Snodgrass curls the ball in, and Bertrand heads away. Aston Villa try to break but Norwich head away to the sidelines.
9'
Norwich win a free kick high up on the right wing. A chance for the lead to be extended.
8'
Hooper has an effort from distance that drags wide, but his cross is out for Norwich to play with.
7'
Villa play around the defence, with a lack of urgency that is amusing for everyone else. They've played five and a half hours of league football without a goal.
6'
Norwich press up the left wing. They try a few passes and are quickly tackled. Villa have a goal kick.
5'
Villa must be sick to be patronised by Wes Hoolahan, of all players. The muted celebration is a disgrace. Respect your current fans, man!

GOAL! Aston Villa 0-1 Norwich City. Hoolahan scores, and the worst muted celebration of all time. Hoolahan finds Gary Hooper on the inside right, and he squares the ball for the return pass, and he slots the ball into the far corner. This is a real low for football.
2'
A cross in from Villa, and it's headed out for a corner on the left wing. The corner finds Baker, but Ruddy collects.

We kick off and the excitement, we can hope, ensues.

There have been a surfeit of technical gremlins, so I apologise for the lack of updates. The match is five minutes away and we can be excited for what are two relatively interesting mid-table sides. Chris Hughton and Paul Lambert are some of the best British managers about, and it's a shame this is probably as far as they'll ever get. A win for either might change that, eventually.
16:05
The problem here is that it's Sunday.

Paul Lambert: "Grant Holt was probably the worst trainer I've ever seen but you put him in on a Saturday and he performed. He was brilliant, absolutely fantastic. I know exactly what you get from him, I know exactly what he's like. I've always had a laugh and a joke with him about his training but he's 30-odd years of age now. You put him on a pitch on a Saturday and he performs. That's the main thing."
