Martin Jol: "Maybe the philosophy has changed there and they want to play with young players. They will develop and be better and better. We’ve probably got the oldest squad in the Premier League and it’s still not easy. We’ve got experience. I always liked Aston Villa. It’s a tough league. If you stay up then you do well. Unfortunately with Fulham, they look at us with different eyes. They probably think that we’re a top 10 club, so we have to be in the top 10."

Paul Lambert: "I don't sense any feeling that they feel the job's done and they know the hard work's still there, but they also know that they're playing really well at the moment. The more that we can keep winning the more it'll happen and they'll get used to that feeling. If we do get that winning feeling and we're at it then we're a really good side that's for sure."

Villa’s young team have been accused of naivety at the back this season – just witness Nathan Baker’s rash tackle on Liverpool striker Luis Suarez in the penalty area two weeks ago – but they boast plenty of firepower in attack, and in Christian Benteke, Andreas Weimann and Gabriel Agbonlahor (injured today), they possess arguably the best front three of all the teams fighting the drop.

Fulham manager Martin Jol makes two changes from the side that lost to a last-gasp Papiss Cisse goal at Newcastle United. The Dutchman brings in Kieran Richardson and Urby Emanuelson down the left, with John Arne Riise and Stanislav Manolev dropping to the bench.

Charles N'Zogbia comes in for the injured Gabriel Agbonlahor as Paul Lambert makes just one change from the Aston Villa side that beat Stoke City 3-1 last weekend. Nathan Baker continues in defence, with Ciaran Clark back on the bench after recovering from a shoulder problem.
