Holden does very well on the line wing, jinking past a couple of Stoke players before finding Elmander, who tries a neat little flick towards what? The penalty area, the goal? Who knows where that was intended for. But it ends up whizzing well over the cross bar and slightly wide as well

Elmander is judged to have brought Delap down unfairly from behind and Stoke are awarded the first free-kick of the day, just inside the half-way line. The hoist the ball into the box (surprise, surprise) but it doesn't reach Jones and Cahill cuts out the danger
2'
The Stoke tactic so far appears to be just to lob the ball up to Kenwyne Jones, even if his is only a couple of metres ago, but in the first couple of minutes Bolton are wise to the scheme and manage to cut out the ball

Bolton get what is bound to be a fiery encounter underway. Bolton start the day 12th, Stoke seventh so there's definitely placings up for grabs today as both sides look to push home their top half of the table credentials

Stoke goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen also starts despite picking up a muscle injury while featuring for Denmark, while right-back Andy Wilkinson is available again after a knee problem but on the bench.
14:50
Kevin Davis plays up front for Bolton then despite hurting his ankle on England duty.
