Paris Saint-Germain v Clermont Foot live – Ligue 1 latest as Mbappe sets up late equaliser for Ramos

Luis Enrique’s decision to rest his stars ahead of a UEFA Champions League quarter-final against Barcelona almost backfired when Paris Saint-Germain came close to a shock defeat to the bottom club Clermont Foot.

Goncalo Ramos scored a classy equaliser in the 86th minute to save PSG from a second consecutive defeat at home to Clermont.

Enrique changed the entire XI that started the French Cup semi-final win over Rennes in midweek, with Kylian Mbappe and Marquinhos among those on a star-studded bench.

The team he picked would usually have been strong enough to win the game, but PSG started sluggishly and didn’t apply any sustained pressure until the second half. By then Habib Keita had given Clermont a surprise lead with a scruffy but precious goal.

The second half was one-way traffic, both before and after the introduction of Mbappe. Achraf Hakimi and Goncalo Ramos both hit the bar before Ramos combined beautifully with Mbappe to score the equaliser.

The result means that PSG need a maximum of nine points from their last six matches to win their 10th Ligue 1 title in 12 seasons.

Clermont earn an important point after an heroic defensive performance at the Parc des Princes.

A defensive interception ricochets across the field to Mbappe. He cuts inside Matsima and hits a shot that deflcets off Gastien and ripples the side netting at the near post. The keeper had it covered.

They've given so much in the second half, and a draw would still be a pretty good result. They have four added minutes to survive.

An equaliser of real class. Ramos drops deep to collect, moves forward and gives the ball to Mbappe on the edge of the D. He holds off a defender and plays a perfectly weighted return pass to Ramos, who stabbed an early shot past the keeper Ndiaye. That's such a good goal.

The pressure is starting to build again. It's a tough second half from Clermont but suddenly they are just over 10 minutes away from a famous victory.

Marco Asensio hammers a terrific cross towards Ramos, whose accomplished close-range header is tipped over acrobatically by the keeper. That's his best save of the night.

Ugarte is booked for stopping a Clermont break. The visitors are having their least fraught spell of the second half.

Clermont Foot win a free-kick 25 yards from goal, which allows them to take a bit of time out and get their breath back. Eventually Cham whips a good free-kick that just clears the crossbar with Tenas scrambling across his line.

Tenas actually touched the ball through the top of the net after his cleared the crossbar.

A great chance for PSG. A short corner was worked to Hakimi, whose awkward long-range shot wasn't held by Ndiaye. Ramos volleyed the rebound against the bar from six yards - he should have scored - and then Mbappe headed straight at Ndiaye.

This is his 435th game for PSG, which equals the record set by Jean-Marc Pilorget in the late 1980s.

Mbappe is making his 300th appearance for the club.

He's been warming up but until now there's been no sign of a substitution from Luis Enrique. You can sort of understand that because an equaliser has looked imminent through the second half. But now it's time...
