Eibar are all over the place here, and aren't doing themselves any favours with some loose passes, against a Real side which looks bang up for this.

CHANCE! Benzema should do better here. Pozo plays a blind backpass and plays in the Frenchman, who takes too much time to get his shot, with Dmitrovic getting down well to stick out a hand and force a corner. Good save from the Eibar keeper, and nothing comes of the corner.

Stop Benzema, stop the goals? The French striker is on a real hot streak, with eight goals in his last six matches. Beyond that, though, there is a huge drop down to the next top scorer. Defensive midfielder Casemiro’s the unlikely next man in the La Liga goal standings for Real, with five.

Real ended Eibar’s best run of the season in December, putting a stop to six games unbeaten with a 3-1 victory in the Basque Country, thanks to goals from Karim Benzema, Luka Modric and Lucas Vazquez.

In contrast, Eibar are on a rotten run. Jose Luis Mendilibar’s team have one win from their last 17 matches in all competitions, and that was back on January 3. They are at real risk of ending a seven year stay in the top flight, but their position is in no way disastrous. Realistically, any team from 13th to 20th are in danger of the drop.

A dodgy November and early December is what has really damaged Real’s title defence, but since February, Los Blancos have been in impressive form, remaining unbeaten in all competitions - 10 matches in total. They signed off before the international break with a 3-1 victory at Celta Vigo.

No Sergio Ramos for Real, who is out for while with a calf injury. The captain’s running out of time to earn a new contract - should he want to extend his time at the club past the summer, that is…
