That's an important victory for Barcelona as they close the gap on Real Madrid at the top of La Liga, but the final scoreline doesn't quite reflect how this match went. Sevilla had a number of chances to find the net, almost as many as Barca, but they didn't take them. That cost them dearly in the end.
FULL TIME: Barcelona 4-0 Sevilla
It seems that Busquets was also shown a yellow card in the madness. Lahoz has taken the stage, it seems.
Yellow card
S. Busquets
There will be three minutes of stoppage time played at the end of the match.
SENT OFF! Lahoz has now sent off Dembele as well! The French winger wasn't happy with the decision to send off Araujo and he will now have an early bath too. Mayhem in the final few minutes.
Red card
O. Dembélé
SENT OFF! Whoops! That wasn't in the script for the debutant! Araujo has been given his marching orders for bringing down Hernandez as the Mexican striker raced through on goal.
Red card
R. Araújo
Barcelona's first game back after the international break is away to Real Mallorca. The fixtures come thick and fast once we return from the international matches in two weeks.
Pique kicks the ball away to pick up the yellow card. He will miss the next game, but will be available for the Clasico. As clear a deliberate booking as you'll ever see.
Yellow card
G. Piqué
Chip over the bar! That was a nice idea from Rakitic. He attempted to catch Vaclik off his line with a chip from 20 yards out, but the ball flashes over the bar. That wasn't too far away.
That was a chance for Sevilla on the counter attack. Ocampos had three teammates in the middle to pick out with the cross from the left wing, but he could only find the head of Pique.
This has been a chastening experience for Sevilla. Barcelona have only had five shots on target while the away side have had four. Yet the Catalans are set for an emphatic win.
This result will lift Barcelona up into second position in the Liga table after Atletico Madrid's goalless draw against Real Valladolid earlier in the afternoon. Real Madrid still top.
That goal means that Messi has now scored 37 times against Sevilla. The Argentine has played well this evening, but he'll be pleased to have scored his first goal of the season here.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Barcelona 4 (78 mins - Lionel Messi) Sevilla 0. Messi is up and running for the season! Barcelona won a freekick in a dangerous position 20 yards out from goal and the Argentine, in trademark fashion, curled a strike over the Sevilla and into the back of Vaclik's net!
Goal
L. Messi
Can Sevilla give themselves a lifeline here? They have a lot of work to do to get back into this game, but Barcelona have looked shaky at the back at times. Can they get on the score sheet?
Valverde could have given Alba 15 minutes of this match, but it's probably wise to allow the left back another two weeks over the international break to complete his return from injury.
