This is a big result for Real Madrid. This win takes them above Atletico Madrid and into second place in the Liga table and continues their recent resurgence. On the balance of play, Real Madrid deserved all three points, but there will be controversy over some of the refereeing decisions.

This is a game that has been won in midfield. Atletico Madrid haven't been able to get near Kroos and Modric in the centre of the pitch. They have been the engine for Real Madrid.

One final change from Solari and Ceballos comes on for Kroos, who has been excellent.

SENT OFF! Atletico Madrid are reduced to 10 men and that should be that. Partey trods on the foot of Kroos and the midfielder is shown a second yellow card. That's game over.

It's too late for Real Madrid to mount a title challenge and catch Barcelona at the top of the Liga table, but this will build momentum. They are still in the Copa del Rey and the Champions League.

Reguilon has played well this afternoon. The youngster has made a real impression since coming into the Real Madrid team a few weeks ago. Who needs Marcelo?

The Real Madrid resurgence under Solari continues. There were real questions asked of the manager after that defeat to Sociedad last month, but what a response they have made.

Bale has been questioned in recent weeks. The Welshman has lost his place in the Real Madrid first team to Vinicius and Vazquez, but that was a really great finish from Bale.
