Luca Zidane hasn't had much to do on his first Real Madrid start. He had to cope with a couple of shots, but there was no real venom to them and he had no trouble in dealing with them.

The first half was too easy for Real Madrid. Villarreal haven't really started. They look like they are on their holidays already, but the away side have been very good. Impressive.

The second half is under way! Villarreal trail 2-0 to Real Madrid.

HALF TIME: Villarreal 0-2 Real Madrid. A good first half performance from the away side. Bale and Ronaldo have both found the net and the scoreline doesn't flatter Real Madrid.

That was a chance for Villarreal to cause Real Madrid soe problems. They had a 2 v 2 on the break, but Ramos made the tackle on Unal to stop the hosts from progressing further.

Fornals gets to the byline and cuts back a cross, with teammates in the middle, but Varane does well to get up and make the clearing header. He has been solid so far.

This has been impressive stuff from Real Madrid. This isn't an easy place for opposition sides to come, but Zidane and his players have looked at ease since the very first whistle.

KROOS FIRES ONE OFF! The space opened up for the German midfielder about 20 yards out from goal. He gets the powerful shot away, but Fernandez saves with his right hand.

WHAT A RUN BY ISCO! Gaspar is caught completely out of position, with Isco driving 40 yards down the pitch with the ball at his feet. But his shot is deflected wide of the goal.

MODRIC OVER! A cross falls to the Croatian on the edge of the box. He controls first time and gets the snap shot off on goal. However, the effort flashes just over the crossbar.

This is a show of Real Madrid's quality. There have been glimpses of their brilliance in La Liga this season, but from the very start they just struggled to find any sort of consistency.

This is an assured performance from Real Madrid in this first half. Although it should be factored in that this hasn't been the best display from Villarreal so far. On their holidays?

Every part of that goal from Real Madrid was brilliant. The cross from Marcelo was the best part. That just underlined the quality the Brazilian left back has in the final third.

Isco finds Marcelo with an excellent diagonal, then Marcelo crosses into Ronaldo with the outside of his right boot and Ronaldo heads home. That was fantastic from Real Madrid.

Rodri has had a lot of space to gallop into in the centre of midfield. Of course, he will be joining Atletico Madrid in the summer. Much is expected of the youngster, hence why Simeone wanted him.
