Not the greatest performance from Barcelona, but they did more than enough to get the job done and maintain their good start to the league season. Messi was the main man, as he so often is, grabbing both goals for the Catalans. Everything Barca did well came through the Argentine.

Iniesta off, Paulinho on. Never thought I'd type that.

Indeed, Paulinho is about to come on for his Barcelona debut. He has already become a figure of fun for the club's supporters. He has a lot of doubters to prove wrong at Barca.

This match has highlighted the quality of Messi and how even with the great man on the dark side of 30, he still has so much to offer. However, it also underlines how reliant Barca are on him.

That was an opportunity for Barcelona to add a third. Denis got the ball inside the box and waited for Messi to join him in the attack, but Alexis made the interception to deny him.

Of course, Dembele isn't the only summer signing Barcelona have made. The Catalans have also added Paulinho to their squad and it looks like the Brazilian might come on now.

This result will mean Barcelona start the 2017/18 La Liga season with two straight wins. That's a good platform to build on, but it doesn't exactly paper over the cracks at the club.

Barcelona take the quick freekick, with Messi attempting to wriggle free of his marker inside the opposition penalty area, but the tackle is made in the end to deny him. That would have been controversial.

Alaves actually made a double change along with Zidane, and Santos comes on for the home side.

Zidane- recognise that name? No pressure.

Looks like Alaves are about to make a change, and this is an interesting one. Enzo Zidane was one of Alaves' summer signings and he's just about to come on for his debut for the club.

OFF THE BAR! Messi comes within inches of finding the net to grab his hat-trick, but his shot loops up on to the woodwork. Pacheco was left standing by that one. He had no chance.

Messi and Alcacer are linking up really well. The former Valencia striker has made a difference since coming on. Something for Valverde to think about when it comes to picking his next team.

RED CARD? That could have been a sending off offence for Umtiti. The Barcelona defender appeared to trod on Sobrino. Remember, the Frenchman is already on a yellow card.

BURGUIS TAKES AIM! Sobrino squeezes the ball through to the sub, who has only been on the pitch for a few minutes, but Busquets comes to the rescue for Barca to make the block.

Deulofeu played well this evening, but on comes Denis to give Barcelona some fresh legs.
