OFF THE WOODWORK! Benzema deserved better because that was an exceptional move by Real Madrid, with the French striker striking the base of the post with a low effort.

HALF TIME: Real Madrid 1-0 Valencia. Ronaldo's goal is the difference between the two teams at the interval. Valencia have had their chances, but will they be made to rue missing them?
Of course, Bale is still out for Real Madrid. He will miss both legs of the Champions League semi-final with Atletico Madrid after being rushed back too early for the Clasico.
This hasn't been the most convincing of Real Madrid performances so far, but they are getting the job done. Valencia have lacked any kind of cutting edge in the final third.
Ronaldo went down on the edge of the Valencia penalty area, but the referee waves away his claim. He made the most of the contact in the challenge. There was nothing in that.
