Atletico Marid certainly weren't at their best this evening, but they ground out the win as they so often do. Griezmann's goal was the difference between the two teams, tightening his team's grip on third place in La Liga. Simeone's decision not to rest many of his starting lineup ultimately paid off.
FULL TIME: Espanyol 0-1 Atletico Madrid
Griezmann probably should have done better with that. The Frenchman came flying forward on the counter attack, but he wasted his shot rather than playing it to a teammate.
This is a good spell from Espanyol, but that might be because Atletico Madrid are inviting pressure on top of themselves, plugging the gaps at the back to see this game out.
Can Espanyol mount a comeback in these final few minutes? At the moment it looks like Atletico Madrid are more likely to find another goal than the hosts are to find an equaliser.
And their second change sees Navarro come on for the home side for the final five minutes.

Whoops! That wasn't the greatest moment of Thomas' young career. He was lining up the shot from distance, but his ankles crumpled at the crucial point. He was under no pressure!
How many times has Griezmann come to Atletico Madrid's rescue this season? If the rumours are true that he might leave this summer, that would be disastrous for the capital club.
FLASHES WIDE! The camera angle made it look closer than it was, but Moreno flashes a header just wide of the far post after beating Oblak to a ball from a corner kick. Wooft!
This has become a real end to end affair since the goal. Espanyol have responded really well to going a goal behind. You wouldn't rule out the possibility of an equaliser on this basis.
Going back to the Atletico Madrid goal, the technique from Griezmann was exceptional. Lopez might feel that he should have done better with his save, but the finish was great.
All of a sudden this game has come to life! Both teams are going for it, although we might see Atletico Madrid become a bit more conservative now that they have the lead.
WHAT A MASSIVE SAVE! That could have been the instant equaliser from Espanyol! Fuego slotted though Leo, but he sees his shot charged down by Oblak. What a huge stop!
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Espanyol 0 Atletico Madrid 1 (73 mins - Antoine Griezmann). The away side have taken the lead! Saul's shot is blocked on the edge of the box and Griezmann was on hand to side foot home a finish at the near post.

For the first time this evening there is a feeling that Atletico Madrid are on top. The introduction of Gameiro has made a big difference, even if he should have stuck away that last chance.
