The injury suffered by Cheryshev was also a big blow to Valencia's chances. The on loan Real Madrid attacker was the danger man for Neville side in the first hour of play.

Atletico Madrid have done an Atletico Madrid in this second half. They soaked up a load of pressure and then hit out on the counter attack, taking their chances when they could.

So that is game over. Valencia had just brought on Negredo to try and find an equaliser in these final few moments of the match, but not they have a two goal deficit to overturn.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Valencia 1 Atletico Madrid 3 (86 mins - Yannick Ferreira Carrasco). Oh dear, oh dear. Carrasco's shot was straight at Alves, but he can't move his feet quick enough and allows it to go right through him.

Confusion on the Valencia bench. Negredo looked to be coming on, then he wasn't. Then he was told he was coming on, and then finally he was told to go back to the bench.

That was just stupid from Santos. He was already on a yellow card and yet he still went in with the slide challenge on Torres. He got nowhere near the ball. Neville is raging.

That was a nasty challenge from Feghouli. He went into a challenge with Lucas an left the studs up on the Atletico Madrid youngster. He was lucky to only see a yellow card.

THAT LOOKED LIKE IT WAS IN! Carrasco drives at the Valencia defence and gets the wicked shot away, but it flashes just past the post. Alves was utterly rooted to the spot.

That was a wayward shot from Danilo. The Valencia player lined up the effort from about 25 yards out, but Oblak wasn't even bothered about it. He need some more composure.

That's just poor marking from Valencia. They left Torres completely free at the back post and the former Liverpool and Chelsea striker made no mistake in tucking it away.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Valencia 1 Atletico Madrid 2 (73 mins - Fernando Torres). Torres is on hand at the back post to force home the finish! Everyone gets drawn to the ball, Koke's corner kick is flicked and he has the simple task.
