Atletico Madrid miss out on the chance to go top of the table at Christmas. Malaga played them at their own game and came out on top. The game changed with the sending off of Gabi, and the Atleti captain will reflect on how he cost his side tonight. Poor from him.

Remember, a point will take Atletico Madrid to the top of the Liga table for Christmas. But with Barcelona on Club World Cup duty this week it would be a missed opportunity.

Of course, if there's one team in Spain that's set up to deal with going a man down, it's Atletico Madrid. Malaga don't have as much of advantage as one might imagine.

However, with Griezmann, Koke and Torres on the pitch there's always the possibility that Atletico Madrid could pull something out the hat. They have the quality to do that with 10 men.

Can either side find the breakthrough? There's less than 10 minutes to play, and it is Malaga who are doing the pressing. Simeone might regard a point a good return, here.

HE TOOK TOO LONG! Griezmann picks out the run of Torres in behind the Malaga defence, but he takes too long to take the touch to set himself and Miguel Torres makes the tackle.

The way this match is going, you get the feeling that it's going to take a moment of magic to make the breakthrough. That bit of skill from Torres certainly would have fitted the bill.

Filipe is back on his feet and on the pitch. He appeared to twist his ankle when blocking a shot on the edge of the box. However, he seems to be back to full fitness now. Reassuring.

WHAT A MOMENT THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN! Torres jinks through the Malaga defence and finds himself clean through, but Kameni comes out to smother his shot. What a way to get the 100th that would have been!
