Athleti Bilbao sub: Mikel Balenziaga OFF, Boveda ON.
Uh oh. That's a problem for Athletic Bilbao. Balenziaga has pulled up with what looks to be a hamstring injury and instantly signals to the bench. Valverde is going to have to make a sub here.
Barcelona could do with Rakitic taking more of a grip in the centre of midfield. The Croatian has been somewhat passive so far, with Athletic Bilbao enjoying success against him.
The problem for Athletic Bilbao is that they haven't really managed to get much service into Aduriz. The 34-year-ld striker is in great form at the moment, but Barcelona have kept him quiet.
The first half didn't really go as we all expected. I think most people thought that Barcelona would make a statement following their Super Copa defeat, but it hasn't worked out like that.
The highlight, or lowlight depending on your allegiances, was Messi's penalty kick miss. That was unexpected, although perhaps it shouldn't have been. He has missed 22% of his penalties throughout his career.
The second half is under way! The score is still goalless between Athletic Bilbao and Barcelona.
What did you make of the first half at San Mames? Were Barcelona fortunate to be awarded a penalty kick? Can Athletic Bilbao pull off another win over the Catalans? Tweet me!
HALF-TIME: Athletic Bilbao 0-0 Barcelona. The two sides head into the break still level, and there is much to be positive about if you are Athletic Bilbao. They have matched Barcelona.
YELLOW CARD: Ivan Rakitic (Barcelona)
CHANCE FOR SUAREZ! The former Liverpool striker is played in behind the Athletic Bilbao backline, but Elustondo recovers and makes the tackle just as Suarez looked to hit the shot.
That was a smart corner kick from Barcelona! Aduriz is picked out inside the penalty area with a low pass, but the away side are aware to it and his shot on goal is eventually blocked.
So far Barcelona have certainly done better than they did in the Super Copa game against Athletic Bilbao just over a week ago, but they still haven't done too much in the final third.
You just get the feeling that Barcelona are starting to crank up the pressure towards the end of this first half. Athletic Bilbao could do with half-time just so that they can regroup again.
Messi has the chance to line up two freekicks from the edge of the penalty area, but on both occasions he smashes his effort into the Athletic Bilbao wall. That wasn't so good.
YELLOW CARD: Javier Eraso (Athletic Bilbao)
BIG OPPORTUNITY FOR BARCELONA! Roberto slots in Suarez, with the striker drawing a great save from Iraizoz. Rafinha gets the rebound but smashes it across the face of goal.
YELLOW CARD: Gorka Elustondo (Athletic Bilbao)
