Caicedo thinks he's through on goal as he intercepts Varane's pass and bears down on goal, but play is brought back for a handball.

Bale is sent through on goal thanks to Ronaldo's clever reverse ball, but the flag is raised as Bale just about gets his shot away. Replays suggest that it was a very close call. Kiko equal to it, regardless.

Real go on the attack once again - Bale leading the charde. Ronaldo is in support and the winger attempts to find his teammate, but the ball is headed away.

Real continue to toy with Espanyol, passing the ball amongst themselves deep in their own half. Espanyol are pressing with the numbers and high up the pitch, but the home side always seem to have an out ball, despite only having ten men.

Kiko is called into action with ten minutes left to play as Isco sends a wicked right-footed drive towards goal. The Espanyol stopper sees it early and beats the ball away for a corner.

To their credit, Espanyol are still going for it here, despite the result being well beyond doubt. They'll need to be careful that they don't commit too many men forward and get caught on the counter.

Isco initially does brilliantly down the left, cutting inside past a number of challenges before feeding Arbeloa with a well-weightred reverse ball. He clips the ball over to Nacho at the far post, and he makes no mistake, drilling home from close range.

Real will surely go on to win this game now, but Carlo Ancelotti will be less than impressed at how wasteful his team have been in front of goal. They should be four or five goals clear by now.

WHAT A MISS!! Gareth Bale collects Ronaldo's through ball and is sent through on goal. The Welshman bursts into the box and only has the keeper to beat, but somehow drags his shot wide of the post. Again, Ronaldo looks less than happy.

It is all 10-man Real at present. Espanyol just cannot get on the ball and have been forced deep into their penalty area. The home side are looking for that vital third goal!

Cristiano Ronaldo is not happy with Gareth Bale. First of all, the Welshman ignores Ronaldo's calls to leave Illarra's cross, but then heads it way wide of the goal.

Chance for Espanyol! Paco Montanes is the first to a loose ball on the right-hand side of the Real bos. The midfielder opts to send a volley on goal and strikes it well, but it's straight at Casillas.

Real venture forward now, and Illara does well out wide on the right, using his close control to move away from Arbilla before winning a corner.

The home side are just toying with their opposition now. Even with 25 minutes still to play, Real are tiring Espanyol out, making them press high whilst stroking the ball around those at the back.

Another change for Ancelotti now as Illaramendi replaces Benzema.
