FULL TIME: Barcelona 5-1 Sevilla. What a performance from Barcelona and a memorable evening for Messi, who has now beaten Zarra's all-time Liga scoring record.
This has been an outstanding performance from Barcelona. They needed a big win tonight and that's exactly what they have got. Messi and Neymar have been fantastic.
Considering that Zarra's record stood for 50 years, and that Messi is still only 27 years old, you have to wonder what Messi will set the new record at over the course of his Barcelona career?
And that's the white flag of surrender from Emery. Bacca has been taken off for former Liverpool player Aspas. That's an indication of admitting defeat if I ever saw one.
Sevilla sub: Carlos Bacca OFF, Iago Aspas ON.
Barcelona sub: Jordi Alba OFF, Adriano ON.
This is a very decent Barcelona side and Sevilla have quite simply put them to the sword. Messi and his side have been fantastic tonight. They deserve to be winning by this margin as well.
And to think the news this week in Barcelona had been of Messi's disgruntlement at the club. He looks perfectly happy tonight. Why would you want to leave something like this?
GOOOOAL! Barcelona 5 (79 mins - Lionel Messi) Sevilla 1. And that's his hat-trick! Messi plays a wonderfull little one-two with Neymar on the edge of the box before sweeping his shot past Beto.
Suarez masked his disappointment at not getting his first goal well. Had Messi not been on hand to finish at the back post the former Liverpool striker would have applied the final touch.
Barcelona sub: Xavi Hernandez OFF, Rafinha ON.
Another big chance for Barcelona! Neymar beats Beto to a ball in behind the Sevilla defence and squares for Pedro, who can't quite crane his neck enough to head into the empty net.
Barcelona sub: Luis Suarez OFF, Pedro ON.
With that goal Messi is hoisted up in the air by his teammates to celebrate him becoming the greatest goalscorer in Spanish Liga history. And this guy is still only 27 years old. Goodness.
GOOOOAL! Barcelona 4 (73 mins - Lionel Messi) Sevilla 1. He's done it! Messi scores his 251st Liga goal to beat Zarra's all-time record. It was a simple finish at the back post from Neymar's pass.
Of course, Sevilla are enjoying a reall good season themselves at the moment, but a heavy defeat tonight could put the dampners on that. They need to be careful here. This could be a rout.
Sevilla are now starting to drop off the Barcelona players when they have the ball. This could be a case of damage limitation for them, which could be an issue with so many forwards on the pitch.
