Barcelona have taken their foot off the gas in the last few minutes. Almeria are here for the taking but with half time approaching the tempo of the game has died, somewhat. Can they find a third?

Messi shoots at goal from about 20 yards but with the Almeria keeper scrambling the ball flashes just past the near post.

And Alves is played through once again! This time Neymar picks out his international teammate at the back post, but when Alves settles himself with the ball he can't pick anyone out with his squared cross.

Alves is having a very mixed game so far. Going forward he is causing Almeria all kinds of problems but at the back he is a bit of a liability. Actually, that could be described as the archetypal Alves performance.

Anyway, Barca seem to be back into their stride quickly. Messi almost shuffles the ball in at the near post after a botched save from Esteban. He had no space to work with but almost found the net!

How many times are Barcelona going to get caught from set pieces? It seems to happen on almost a weekly basis. Surely that's something they should be working on in training? You would think so.

GOAL! Barcelona 2 Almeria 1 (28 mins - Angel Trujillo). The visitors have a goal back! The defender is unmarked from a corner and powers a header into the net with Valdes in no man's land!

Tipped over the bar by Valdes! Most were expecting a cross from Corona but the Almeria veteran decided to have a shot at goal from the freekick, forcing the Barcelona keeper to tip over the bar.

GOAL! Barcelona 2 (25 mins - Lionel Messi) Almeria 0. Wonderful goal by Messi! He's just curled a trademark freekick from 20 yards into the top corner. The keeper could get nowhere near it!

And now Barca come forward on the counter-counter attack, with Dubarbier out of position at right back. Indeed, that's where the ball goes, but after cutting inside Messi's shot is weak and saved by Esteban.

Almeria come forward on the counter attack, with Dubarbier pouncing on a loose pass from Barcelona. The fullback strides up the pitch but when he tries to pick out Rodri he puts too much weight on his cross.

Alves and Xavi play a wonderful one-two through the packed Almeria backline, but just when the fullback is looking to take a shot Dubarbier comes across to make a desperate last ditch tackle.

Xavi is looking back to his best tonight. He is controlling the game from the centre of the pitch and is pulling and pushing his opponents all over the place. It's great to watch.

Messi tries to chip through Neymar, who is positioned on the shoulder of the last defender, but the pass from the Barcelona number 10 is a little strong and the ball drifts out of play. Nice idea though.

YELLOW CARD: Ramon Azeez (Almeria)

Corona tries to catch out Valdes at his near post with the freekick but he can't quite get the shot over the bar and the ball bounces away for a corner kick, which in the end comes to nothing.
