Well that was fairly straightforward for Barcelona. Alexis Sanchez was outstanding and may have played himself into the lineup for the game against Atletico Madrid next weekend. His freekick was the highlight of the game. Excellent!

FULL TIME: Barcelona 4-0 Elche

Elche are enjoying a bit of possession in their own half, with the home crowd ironically greeting every pass with a cheer. Seems a bit cruel, but no doubt Barcelona have been completely dominant this afternoon.

For Elche this result, while hardly unexpected, will take them closer to the foot of the Spanish league table. They've now lost five of their last six fixtures, a run of form that is dangerous when you're trying to avoid relegation.

Barcelona are toying with Elche now. They're passing the ball around under little pressure and are running down the clock, while having a bit of fun themselves.

With that change Barcelona look to have switched shape a little bit. They may have pushed Fabregas even further up the pitch, with Tello hugging the left touchline now that he's on.

Elche win a corner after a lazy clearance by Pique but the delivery into the box is poor by Ruben Perez and Valdes only has to back track a few yards to catch the ball over his head.
