DOMINANT NEWCASTLE BEAT LIVERPOOL 2-1 IN CARABAO CUP FINAL
Newcastle lifted their first major trophy since 1969 after beating Liverpool 2-1 in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley.
The Magpies dominated the Premier League leaders from start to finish, taking a 2-0 lead through a thunderous header from Dan Burn and a calm finish from Alexander Isak.
Federico Chiesa's late goal gave Liverpool hope of an unlikely comeback in stoppage time, but Newcastle held on to win their first trophy since claiming the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in 1969.
The Carabao Cup triumph was also their first domestic trophy since they lifted the 1955 FA Cup.
The defeat capped a heartbreaking week for Arne Slot's side.
They not only missed out on a first major trophy since the Dutchman's arrival, but were also eliminated from the UEFA Champions League by PSG.

NEWCASTLE WIN CARABAO CUP FINAL
Newcastle's long wait for a major trophy is over, and what a performance from The Magpies.
They thoroughly deserve it, and you can see what it means to the Newcastle supporters.
It's a long journey back to the north-east, but they won't care.
Alexander Isak and Dan Burn were the difference, but it is also a huge moment for Eddie How, who becomes the first Englishman to win a major trophy in this country since Harry Redknapp claimed the FA Cup with Portsmouth in 2008.
They have all been key to Newcastle's progress in recent years.
However, questions need to be asked of Liverpool after a disastrous week in their season.
They may look set to win the Premier League, but they have lost the Carabao Cup final and are out of the UEFA Champions League after losing to PSG on Tuesday.
They will have to recover quickly, with ten games remaining for them in the Premier League.
Congratulations to Newcastle, we have the trophy presentation to come.
