Brentford reach the first cup semi in their history! What a brilliant efofrt from them, what a piece of nonsense from Newcastle.

Murhpy misses his header off a long ball and Toney pounces, taking the ball close to the touchline and powering into the box, curving a low shot towards the far post which forces Darlow to poke behind for a corner. And if that's not bad enough for Newcastle, as Brentford take it short and try to keep the ball in the corner, Longstaff concedes a free-kick. What a dolt.

At last a bit of vim from Newcastle, Yedlin powering down the right and crossing to the back post, where Sorensen blocks off Carroll.

Murphy crosses and Gayle tries to take it down, but Sorensen, unaware of where the ball is, stumbles in his path between him and the ball, allowing Daniels to collect.

Newcastle really do not have to be this bad, but they're an absolute shower. They've got the players to be so much more fun than this, even without Saint-Maximin.

Fosu goes down the right and stands up a cross, just too high for Toney.

Carroll snatches a poor clearance 25 yards out and seeing a shooting lane open, hammers the ball through it ... and just past the post, though Daniels probably had it covered.

Since falling behind, Newcastle have created almost nothing.

Nice from Gayle, tricking down the right and crossing well. But Wilson can't kill it, the ball running off his chest and away from his stretch as he tries to deliver the hammer.

This has been so poor from Newcastle, who've created very little, especially in the second half.

Brentford almost make it safe! A long through is flicked on to the back post by Pinnock, where Norgaard slides in, and Darlow does brilliantly to block at point-blank range!

Gayle drives forward and finds nothing to do with the ball.

Toney slides in and, committed to the challenge, nails Gayle in the follow-through. He takes a moment, but he's fine.

I'm surprised Steve Bruce didn't send on Andy Carroll, though if he was going to do that taking off Fraser wouldn't make much sense.
