REAL MADRID BOUNCE BACK FROM LA LIGA TITLE DISAPPOINTMENT IN UNCONVINCING VICTORY OVER NINE-MAN SEVILLA
Goals from Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham saw Real Madrid bounce back from the disappointment of missing out on the Liga title in an unconvincing 2-0 win over nine-man Sevilla.
The home side were quickly reduced to 10-men inside 13 minutes when the Frenchman broke the offside trap before being brought down just inside Sevilla’s half by Loic Bade, who left referee Mateo Busquets Ferrer with little choice but to brandish a straight red card.
Whilst play swung in the favour of the visitors, with 18-year-old Endrick, Federico Valverde and Mbappe having opportunities to open the scoring, it was the home side who went close to taking the lead just before the break when Garcia Pascual strode through on goal before remarkably firing wide.
Sevilla were reduced to nine-men shortly after half-time when substitute Isaac Romero was sent off just 35 seconds after coming onto the pitch, following a studs-up challenge on Aurelien Tchouameni, with VAR overturning the initial yellow card shown.
It would take another 30 minutes before Real Madrid would find the breakthrough as Mbappe fired from range to find the bottom corner and almost certainly seal the golden boot competition.
Los Blancos doubled their lead through Bellingham just before the full-time whistle, when the Englishman converted Gonzalo Garcia’s headed cross from close range to secure a win in Real Madrid’s final away game under Carlo Ancelotti before his departure in the summer.
Real Madrid return to the Bernabeu for the final game of the season as they face Real Sociedad on home soil on Sunday, May 25, whilst Sevilla face Europa-challenging Villarreal at El Madrigal.

KYLIAN AND MODRIC THE BRIGHT STARS AFTER LACKLUSTRE PERFORMANCE AGAINST NINE-MEN SEVILLA
Whilst they had little to play for with Barcelona securing the title midweek, this would not have been the performance to bounce back from disappointment.
It took two dismissals and 75 minutes before Real Madrid found the breakthrough, via a lovely low drive from range from Kylian Mbappe, who tried to create something out of nothing at times.
Whilst it was 39-year-old Luka Modric, who looked his vintage, prime self who, along with Mbappe, were the source of inspiration for much of the 90 minutes.
Frustrations appeared obvious the longer the game went on, with Mbappe clashing heads with Kike Salas, along with Jude Bellingham picking up another yellow card, which would see him suspended for the final game of the season.
For anyone watching this Real Madrid side, many would be quickly turning their attention to next season and what the new manager at the helm could change in this rather inconsistent side.
