KYLIAN MBAPPE SCORES HAT-TRICK AS REAL MADRID MOVE FOUR POINTS CLEAR OF ATLETICO MADRID
Kylian Mbappe scored his first Real Madrid hat-trick as he helped Real Madrid to a 3-0 win over Real Valladolid and extended their lead at the top of La Liga.
The Frenchman broke the deadlock inside 30 minutes when he curled a shot past Valladolid goalkeeper Karl Hein after a neat one-two with Jude Bellingham.
He doubled Real Madrid's lead in the 57th minute when Rodrygo darted into the final third, before picking out Mbappe, whose shot found the bottom corner.
There was late drama in Valladolid as Bellingham was the victim of a dangerous tackle from Mario Martin. Despite the referee Mateo Busquets Ferrer waving play on, it was the VAR who intervened before a penalty was awarded and Martin subsequently headed for an early shower having been shown a second yellow card.
Mbappe wasted no time as he stepped up, sending Hein the wrong way to complete his first Real Madrid hat-trick.
Madrid go four points clear of Atletico Madrid, whilst opening a gap of ten points over Barcelona. Valladolid sit adrift at the bottom of the standings, five points from safety.
Next up, Real Madrid are back in European action as they face French side Brest in their final group stage match of the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, January 29 - live on TNT Sports and discovery+ - before they face Espanyol on Saturday, February 1.

FRANTIC FINALE AS REAL MADRID EXTENDS LEAD TO FOUR POINTS THANKS TO HAT-TRICK HERO MBAPPE.
It was not the finest displays from Real Madrid but it's the three points and win which matter in the hotly contested title race in La Liga.
It means Los Blancos makes it four league wins in a row and has started to stretch away from the three-horse race for the title with Atletico Madrid and Barcelona.
Barcelona face Valencia tomorrow but despite the table giving Hansi Flick's side the advantage, Barcelona have just one win in their last eight league games and mustn't slip up if they wish to remain in poaching distance.
Kylian Mbappe made it 22 goals for the season and looks to be finding form just in time to help Real's chances of a 37th La Liga title.
As for Real Valladolid, relegation is all but a reality as they sit rock bottom of the table and remain without a proper target man upfront to make their chances count.

    PENALTY FOR REAL MADRID!
    The referee overturns his decision.
It looks like the Mario Martin's sliding tackle's followthrough catches Bellingham's calf and it has to be a penalty in that case.
Mbappe to go for a hat-trick.

Real Valladolid go on the counter and Mamadou Sylla moves into the box. He has five players available to pass to but decides to shoot for himself and it's wide of goal.
A brief spell of optimism for the home fans who are understandably disappointed with that poor decision.

GOAL! REAL VALLADOLID 0-2 REAL MADRID (MBAPPE 57')
That's another reason for that smile on Mbappe's face.
It's a lovely goal once again from Real Madrid as they win the ball in midfield, with Rodrygo charging forward before passing to Mbappe on his left, who's composed finish rolls into the bottom right corner.

    MBAPPE BOOKED
Mbappe challenges for the ball with Anuar, who once again goes to ground and clutches his foot, and the Real Madrid man is the next name to go into the book.
Fair to say, you can guess what Mbappe thinks of that based on the smile on his face.
