Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior has signed a four-year contract extension with the Spanish giants.
The new deal ties Vinicius, who won the Socrates Award for his charity and social activism work at Monday night’s Ballon d’Or ceremony, to the club until the summer of 2027.
The Brazil international has played over 235 games for Los Blancos, scoring 62 goals, since joining from Flamengo in 2017 as a 16-year-old.
"Real Madrid C. F. and Vini Jr. have reached an agreement to extend the player's contract, linking him to the club until 30 June 2027," an announcement on the Real Madrid website read.
"Aged 23, Vini Jr. is already one of Real Madrid's most influential players of recent years.
"He scored the goal that clinched the 14th European Cup in the final in Paris in 2022 and was awarded the Golden Ball at the 2022 Club World Cup in Morocco, which Real Madrid won, making it the eighth world trophy in our history."
Vinicius added on X (formerly Twitter) that Real Madrid was his "dream club" and that he was looking forward to winning "more titles together."
Vinicius, who has 24 caps for his country, has won nine cups during his time at the club so far, including a UEFA Champions League and two La Liga titles.
But during his time in Spain, he has been subjected to multiple instances of racist abuse, with play stopped for 10 minutes in the second half of Real Madrid's match against Valencia in May.
La Liga is also investigating alleged racist chants directed at Vinicius during Saturday's El Clasico when the Brazilian was substituted towards the end of the second half.
The 23-year-old vowed to keep fighting racism at the Ballon d'Or award ceremony in Paris.
"I will remain strong in the fight against racism," he said. "It is a very sad thing to talk about racism nowadays, but we have to continue in the fight so that people suffer less.
"I'm very happy to receive this award and to help many children in Brazil. I had little chance of getting where I have, coming from where I came, so it is a pleasure for me to help as many kids as I can so they can have a chance."
Speaking at the Ballon d'Or former Chelsea player Didier Drogba praised Vinicius and urged the football authorities to do more to stamp racism out.
“Thank you Vinicius, you are not alone in this fight. It’s been going on for too long, way too long," Drogba said.
“I would like to urge football authorities and governments to act. It is time for real action to eradicate racism, not only in stadiums but everywhere in the world. Thank you.”
