Sevilla say they are disgusted by an “inappropriate act” from a fan at Rayo Vallecano on Monday night, after Lucas Ocampos appeared to be touched in the backside during a 2-1 win.
The club has called on La Liga to take strong action, describing the incident as “obscene”.
The Argentina international was poked while preparing to take a throw-in and can be seen on footage speaking to the supporter, before reporting the incident to the referee.
Rayo Vallecano are trying to identify the individual and have promised to apply the “appropriate disciplinary measures” once they have done so.
Speaking after the game, Ocampos said he wants league organisers to treat the situation “as seriously as racism” and told DAZN he did not react angrily “because I have two daughters, I hope this doesn't happen to them in the future".
“We would like to place on record our disgust at the incident,” said Sevilla in a statement.
“Our player Lucas Ocampos suffered an obscene and totally inappropriate gesture by a local fan.
“Sevilla FC hopes that the appropriate measures stipulated in the regulations will be taken so that such behaviour is not repeated on a football field, and this has been conveyed to La Liga.
“These gestures and behaviours should not be allowed in our competition if we aspire to be the best league in the world.”
