VINICIUS JR RESCUES LOS BLANCOS POINT IN EMOTIONAL THRILLER
A statement Vinicius Jr brace rescued a point for Real Madrid in a four-goal thriller that saw Valencia hit two in three minutes to peg the La Liga leaders back in the title race on Jude Bellingham’s injury return.
It was a game with highly charged emotions for both sides - Vinicius returning to the scene of his high-profile racist abuse in May 2023 but starting the game by applauding a ceremony to honour the ten people killed by an apartment block fire in Valencia last week.
The Mestella crowd proved the difference from the first minute and were rewarded when a quickfire double put Los Ches ahead, Hugo Duro providing the first after some dogged home play and a slice of luck before Dani Carvajal gifted Roman Yuremchuk another moments later.
Vinicius wasn’t to be outdone though - he gave the hosts a lifeline in the last seconds of the first half and celebrated with the black power salute in front of the Valencia fans before heading his side level in the second half.
That was how it stayed until full-time, but not for the lack of trying. Valencia saw a late penalty correctly overturned by VAR and the referee then blew for full-time as Real Madrid were sending a cross into the box… That Bellingham hit the net from.
However, Girona and Barcelona could now cut Real’s advantage to four and six points respectively if they win tomorrow.

FULL TIME: VALENCIA 2-2 REAL MADRID
And that's how it ends! That's probably a fair result as both sides gave everything and took their chances when they came, Real Madrid may lose ground in the title race but it could've been worse while Valencia draw level with eighth-placed Las Palmas.

LAST CHANCE SALOON
The penalty decision has tipped it past the seven minutes but there really are just moments left for either side to win it!

NO PENALTY!
And it is chalked off, which is the correct decision. That will only add to the seven minutes of stoppage time originally signalled.

PENALTY!
At least for now! Valencia lifted the ball into the box and Duro timed his run perfectly but hit the deck under pressure from Fran Garcia and the referee points to the spot!
It looked like very light contact as Duro was going down independently and VAR are checking.

SET PIECE CHANCE
Cenk Ozkacar has replaced Diakhaby and it's galvanised the hosts, who immediately win a corner. However, it's easily cleared.

HORRIBLE INJURY
Steer clear of that replay if you're squeamish. Seriously. Diakhaby's leg was planted into the ground attempting to clear the bouncing ball when the stumbling Tchouameni fell into it with his full weight. The centre-back - not long back from the African Cup of Nations - collapsed immediately and leaves the field on a stretcher. That looks really serious.

CHANCE AT THE WINNER?
Bellingham took offence to a challenge but it nearly pays dividends from the resulting free kick. A cross fell to new boy Nacho but he couldn't clear his feet and the chance goes begging.

ANOTHER YELLOW
It's the third booking of the game, and the sixth of the season for Monctar Diakhaby. At least he made the most of it, felling Joselu and Bellingham with one challenge.

VAR CHECK OVER!
The goal stands, rightly, and it's all square! Both sides will have at least 15 minutes to find a winner, though really it feels like a game neither side deserves to lose.

GOAL!!!! VALENCIA 2-2 REAL MADRID (VINICIUS)
Vinicius is HIM! Minutes after picking up a yellow card - on the site of his high-profile verbal racist attack last season, he's levelled it.
Time stood still for Modric on the edge of the area before he played in Brahim Diaz's late run, and they were queuing up to get on the end of his cute cross.

VINICIUS BOOKED
It's a popular one with fans as Vinicius is booked for leaving a little extra on a tackle from behind - it may be a soft one but he should've seen yellow for his first-half challenge on Pepelu so it balances out.

SO CLOSE!
Diaz has struggled to impact the game so far but nearly did so in the best way possible. With Valencia disciplined in their own box he loosed a fizzer from distance that just flashed past Mamardashvili after the Georgian had given up on it.

SILKY SKILLS
Valencia are playing confidently, keeping the ball on the ground when dispossessing Real Madrid even it means Mamardashvili comes under pressure. It nearly pays off there when Fran Perez holds the ball up superbly with three defenders around him before feeding Guerra, but the midfielder's galloping run is halted before he can get a shot off.
