PROBING
Madrid are throwing the kitchen sink at the Islanders as both full-backs fly forwards in support. There's so many red shirts between them and the goal, though, and the score remains unthreatened.
23'
SPINNING IN BEHIND
Morlanes looks for Rodriguez down the left, and the left midfielder bursts into the box, but he can only direct his cutback into Lunin's hands.

HALFWAY THROUGH THE FIRST HALF
... and, unsurprisingly, it seems a matter of it, not when, Madrid will snatch first blood. However, there's been a lack of real clear-cut chances so far...

CLOSE!
The closest that Madrid have come, as Modric pokes one through for Vinicius who peels leftwards, and his effort is just dragged wide of the far post.
17'
LOOKING TO PENETRATE
... are the hosts, but Mallorca are staying resolute. Larin is getting isolated up top when they launch one up to him, and Madrid come again.
15'
FREE KICK, MADRID
Gonzalez gets too tight to Vinicius and fells him in midfield.
13'
FIRST ON TARGET
... and it comes from the head of Bellingham. Modric drifts further wide right and floats in a delightful clip into the near post, as the England international flicks a header into the gloves of Rajkovic,

CORNER, MADRID
Rodrygo does well down the right to win the corner after some neat interplay. Raillo sends it behind, but the short corner doesn't come off and the hosts rebuild.

GOOD IDEA
Bellingham shifts infield from the left onto his right, and looks to drift a reverse ball in behind for Carvajal to chase, but the execution is just off.
8'
NOTHING OF NOTE
... to report so far, but Mallorca are trying to be positive when they counter, looking to get Larin in behind.

MOVING MIDFIELD PARTS
Madrid's midfield could also be looked at as more of a 4-2-2-2; Valverde sat a bit deeper alongside Kroos, with Modric picking up pockets as a more advanced right-sider.
3'
EARLY TACTICAL OBSERVATIONS
Van der Heyden is booked for an early elbow on Carvajal under a high ball. Madrid look to be in that 4-3-1-2, with Valverde and Modric flanking Kroos, with Bellingham ahead of them.

MALLORCA TEAM ANALYSIS
This is all about a shut-out job for Javier Aguirre's visitors. Keep them out, and then get out.
5-4-1, Predrag Rajkovic is probably sweating in the away dressing room at the thought of the peppering his goal is about to get.
Ahead of him, he'll be relying on the central defensive trio of Giovanni Gonzalez, Antonio Raillo, and Matija Nastasic to keep things tight in the middle, with Pablo Maffeo and Siebe van der Heyden presumably tucking in further to become auxiliary centre-backs, despite being the widest defenders on the teamsheet.
Antonio Sanchez and Dani Rodriguez will likely be pushed back into uncomfortable full-back territory, while the engine room duo of Samu and Manu Morlanes will have their work cut out if they don't assert their authority early in the challenge.
Up top, Cyle Larin is the lone ranger who will have clearances desperately launched at him. His job? Make them stick, and win the free kicks. Slow the game down.

REAL MADRID TEAM ANALYSIS
Carlo Ancelotti has shown his need for another centre-back, selecting Aurelien Tchouameni as the makeshift central defender in his back four, with David Alaba still out injured, and no Eder Militao or Nacho either.
Andriy Lunin is between the posts, with Dani Carvajal, Antonio Rudiger, and Fran Garcia completing the defensive setup.
It could be a 4-4-2, it could be a 4-3-3, but it's most probably a 4-3-1-2 going forwards for Real, with the width being provided by the overlapping full-backs and the two strikers peeling into the channels for cutbacks. Furthermore, the number eights will be expected to play supporting roles in the half-spaces, offering bounce-passes and one-twos in more of a mezzala role.
In that instance, we can expect Toni Kroos to play the holding role, with Luka Modric to his left, and Federico Valverde to the right, and Jude Bellingham ahead of them in the free number 10 role that he has thrived in since his arrival.
With the Englishman the hosts' most potent goal threat as a shadow striker, Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo will drift into wider areas and look to feed the attacking midfielder, whose late box crashes have brought him 17 goals in all competitions so far this term.
