Pepe's fouled and Real have a free kick from around 30 yards out. Ronaldo's going to take it.

Atletico take advantage and pump the ball downfield.... Ball breaks to Adrian, whose shot is blocked by the stomach of Coentrao. Corner comes to nothing.

RONALDO GOES DOWN IN THE ATLETICO BOX! No penalty says the referee. That was dubious. Gabi could easily have been penalised there. He tripped the former Man Utd man from behind and didn't get anywhere near the ball. In his defence, Ronaldo didn't complain.

Big let-off for Real. Instead of shooting, Gabi dinks the free kick over the opposition wall and right into Falcao. The Colombian striker can't make contact though. You'd have thought a 20-goal striker would have done a bit better there.

Good build-up play by Atletico. Adrian's cross is cleared, but in the ensuing action Arda Turan is brought down by Xabi Alonso. Aletico have a free kick from 30 yards out.

Foul by Pepe on Gabi. Diego takes the free kick on the halfway line. it misses everyone, but Coentrao still contrives to concede a corner. Casillas is not happy with his full back about that, but the corner comes to nothing.

Diego takes it and Falcao gets his head to it.... No. Linesman correctly calls it offside. It was tight, but totally right.

Ramos is penalised for a foul on Falcao. It didn't look like he touched the striker though. In fact, no, he definitely didn't. Free kick to Atletico.

Di Maria's corner find the head of RAMOS, but his goalbound effort ricochets off a fortunate Atletico defender or two.

Ronaldo jinks left and right over on the left flank and creates space for a cross, which is put out for a corner by Diego Godin. But where on earth were di Maria and Benzema?

On closer inspection, Coentrao got a toe on the ball and deflected Falcao's shot. The Portuguese did very well there.

Diego releases the ball towards Falcao.... The Colombian does brilliantly to get a shot away ahead of Coentrao, but Iker Casillas charges the ball down and now has a corner to deal with.

Ronaldo is on the ball. He's scored 49 times in all competitions for Real this season and will fancy his chances of adding to that extraordinary tally tonight. Atletico have won their last five home games though, so it won't be easy.

Long ball up from Pepe in the Real defence as far as Benzema. The Frenchman knocks it back for Ronaldo.... but Filipe gets a foot in very well.

Di Maria with the free-kick from th right, but the referee wants it retaken as the Atletico defenders were already moving. The retaken cross is cleared.

Cristiano Ronaldo is fouled by Juanfran, and the full-back - who started out as a midfielder with Real no less - gets a talking to.

The first test for Thibaut Courtois comes in the shape of a low drive from Angel di Maria. The keeper is just 19 and is on loan from Chelsea.

Three changes for Atletico: Suarez, Salvio and Miranda are all suspended so in come Falcao, Perea and Tiago.

Four changes for Real after the 0-0 draw against Valencia at the weekend. Sergio Ramos returns from suspension in place of Raul Albiol wgile Fabio Coentrao surprisingly comes in for Marcelo. Kaka is included in place of Mesut Ozil while Angel di Maria comes in for Gonzalo Huguain. Karim Benzema moves up front as a result.
