Football news - Carlo Ancelotti on brink of return to Real Madrid as Everton target David Moyes
Carlo Ancelotti won Real Madrid´s tenth Champions League title in 2014, the famous La Decima, and could be set for a sensational return to the club following the resignation of Zinedine Zidane. Ancelotti is currently in charge of Premier League side Everton, but a Marca report suggests Real president Florentino Perez has made contact with the Italian.
Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti has been linked with an incredible return to Real Madrid this summer following Zinedine Zidane´s exit, according to Marca.
Ancelotti, a three-time Champions League winner who lead Los Blancos to la Decima during his last stint in charge, remains one of the world´s most highly rated managers and according to the report Real Madrid President Florentino Perez has made initial contact.
Other candidates are thought to include Paris Saint-Germain´s Mauricio Pochettino, as well as former midfield legend Xabi Alonso who is currently in charge of Real Sociedad B.
Massimiliano Allegri was also linked with the role but has since replaced Andrea Pirlo at Juventus.
Ancelotti last joined Real Madrid in 2013 and won the Champions League, Copa del Rey, Supercopa de Espana and a Club World Cup before leaving in 2015.
One of the names on the Everton shortlist according to The Times is former boss David Moyes, now in charge of West Ham.
Other names potentially under consideration include Eddie Howe and Nuno Espirito Santo.
