Celta Vigo 1-0 Deportivo la Coruna
A Fernando Baiano header just after the hour gave struggling Celta a vital win over Deportivo.
He was there on the line to finish after Gustavo Lopez flicked on Antonio Nunez' corner.
Depor were dangerous on the break with Coloccini and Aldo Duscher both going close but Celta were the better side, with Nene seeing a goal disallowed early on and Fabio Coloccini clearing off his line twice, first from Baiano and later on from Gabriel Tamas. Baiano also hit the woodwork before winning it four minutes later.
Celta climb out of the bottom three after the defeat to Levante.
Nastic 1-0 Zaragoza
An 80th-minute Javier Portillo header gave Nastic a crucial victory over Zaragoza, whose push for the Champions League suffered a big blow by losing to La Liga's bottom side.
Nastic actually created more of the clear-cut opportunities, with Zaragoza keeper Cesar saving well from David Generelo, Antonio Pinilla and Ruben Castro.
Pinilla and Alejandro Campano also went close for the hosts, although Albano Bizarri had to save the win with a late stop from Oscar.
Nastic are still bottom on goal difference but are now level with second bottom Real Sociedad and only five points off Levante.
Getafe 3-0 Villarreal
Getafe hammered ten-man Villarreal thanks to goals from Verpakovskis , Francisco Casquero and Serigo Pachon.
The win could have been even greater, Sebastian Viera saving a Daniel Guiza penalty with the score at 2-0 on 39 minutes.
Casquero put the hosts ahead just after the half-hour with a left-foot finish to cap-off a counter-attack started by Verpakovskis, Guiza stepping over his through ball to allow Casquero to finish.
Maris Verpakovskis doubled their lead on 65 minutes after Villarreal failed to clear a Guiza shot and the visitors' woe increased on 78 minutes when Mexico striker Guille Franco was dismissed for a second bookable offence.
Pachon capped-off the win with a cool chip over Viera with six minutes remaining.
Getafe move ninth while Villarreal stay 12th.
Atletico Madrid 1-0 Levante
Atletico held onto sixth spot with a 1-0 win that puts Levante in the bottom three.
Fernando Torres struck on the hour after Atletico had created many chances but failed to beat veteran keeper Jose Franciso Molina.
The former Deportivo man saved from Gabi on 24 minutes and Torres on 53, but the pick of the bunch was an incredible stop from Mista just before the break.
Levante's chances were limited to failing to capitalise on several flaps by Leo Franco in the Atletico goal, but they were psyched-up after conceding and dominated the final half hour, with sub Mustapha Riga creating problems and missing a sitter and Salva and Olivier Kapo also going close.
Athletic Club 2-1 Espanyol
Athletic stayed 16th but cemented their place in La Liga with a fightback against Espanyol led by veteran striker Ismael Urzaiz.
The visitors had taken the lead in the third minute when Jonatas chipped the culpable Daniel Aranzubia, who made up for the error with a good save from Walter Pandiani on ten minutes and another from Salva on 20.
But Athletic fought back in typical style, Aritz Aduriz hitting the bar just before the quarter hour and the half-time introduction of bustling target-man Urzaiz changed the game around.
They were piling it on and Urzaiz got his reward for a couple of near misses when he headed home Andoni Iraola's free-kick on 62 minutes.
And he completed the brace and win with a similar goal on 78, crashing in Fran Yeste's cross to send the home support delirious.
Yeste almost increased the advantage in injury-time but we denied by Carlos Kameni but Athletic had Aranzubia to thank after he somehow saved a Daniel Jarque header at the death.
Espanyol slip to tenth after the loss.
Osasuna 1-1 Recreativo
Osasuna held Recre to a 1-1 draw in Pamplona thanks to Cesar Cruchaga's second half header.
A solo effort by on-loan Liverpool striker Florent Sinama-Pongolle had put Recre ahead on 50 minutes but only three minutes later Cruchaga struck with a header from a David Lopez cross to give them the draw.
Osasuna climb a spot to 13th while Recre drop one to eighth.
