SENEGAL STUN ENGLAND TO INFLICT TUCHEL'S FIRST DEFEAT
England suffered their first defeat under Thomas Tuchel as they were beaten 3-1 by Senegal at the City Ground.
The Lions of Teranga came from behind to inflict what was also The Three Lions' first ever loss against an African opponent.
England were seeking a response from their disappointing display against Andorra on Saturday and drew first blood after just seven minutes.
Eberechi Eze stole possession and combined with Conor Gallagher to tee up Anthony Gordon, whose first-time shot was parried by Edouard Mendy for Harry Kane to tuck away the rebound.
Senegal responded well and drew themselves level five minutes before the break as Nicolas Jackson latched onto a ball over the top of the defence, before crossing for Ismaila Sarr to finish.
The visitors, who extended their unbeaten streak to 24 matches, then completed the turnaround in the 62nd minute with The Three Lions caught out by another lofted ball in behind the back line, and Habib Diarra capitalising on the space to beat Dean Henderson from a tight angle.
England thought they had equalised in the 84th minute when Jude Bellingham fired home from close range, only for the referee to rule Levi Colwill had handled in the build-up.
The hosts' misery was compounded in the third minute of stoppage time when Lamine Camara dispossessed Curtis Jones and launched a quick-fire counter, before finding Cheikh Sabaly, who controlled and tucked away.

'WE SEEMED A BIT FROZEN AGAIN'
England boss Thomas Tuchel rued his side's defeat - and what was the Three Lions' first against African opposition.
"Disappointing result. I'm not sure if we didn't deserve a little bit more result-wise," he said. "We seemed a bit frozen again and not active enough for a long time in the match. We conceded very easy goals and need to defend better.
"We defended quite well for a long period in the first half. I think our best period came when we were 2-1 down. I thought the reaction was good after we went behind. We were more active, free, fluid and aggressive towards the opponent's goal. We had big chances to equalise."
Tuchel also explained why he only introduced Toney in the latter stages of the contest.
"Ivan is a specialist for these kind of situations," he added. "We created a lot of chances. After 80 minutes, we got him ready. That's what he can give; presence in the box and a late goal."

THE STREAK CONTINUES
England's performance will draw most of the headlines, but every credit must go to Senegal.
The Lions of Teranga are now unbeaten in each of their last 24 matches.

'WE KNOW WE NEED TO BE BETTER'
Harry Kane is the first England player to speak to the media following that disappointing defeat.
"Again, not really good enough," he said. "We had moments, but things with and without the ball just aren't quite clicking. We're losing duels and that aggressive nature.
"We're not going to panic but, for sure, we know we need to be better.
"We've got new players coming into the team who haven't got experience at international level. There are a mixture of things, but it's no excuse.
"The World Cup's going to come around really fast, so every camp is really important."

TUCHEL TASTES FIRST THREE LIONS DEFEAT
The England boss can have few complaints about the result; Senegal were deserving of their victory.
The Three Lions were seeking a response to their underwhelming 1-0 victory over Andorra on Saturday, but did not get one.
Despite Harry Kane's early strike, Senegal carried the greater attacking threat and sounded several warnings before Ismaila Sarr eventually equalised.
England switched off to a ball over the top of the defence for the first goal, and did so again for the second, with Habib Diarra taking full advantage to give the visitors the lead.
The introduction of Morgan Gibbs-White gave the hosts some form of spark, while Jude Bellingham found the net after coming on - only to be denied by VAR.
Senegal subsequently had the final word by rounding off a magnificent counter to condemn England to a first defeat against African opposition.

NO GOAL
England think they have equalised, as Colwill wins Madueke's outswinging corner, before Bellingham controls and volleys home from inside the six-yard box.
However, VAR have advised the referee to take a second look on her pitchside monitor.
After doing so, she rules Colwill handled in the build-up to the goal, which she subsequently overturns.
The ball did strike the defender on the arm in all fairness.
