So far, so good for Reading. More than held their own in this opening half.

Good ball from Chalobah to Mackie and his shot is saved by Szczesny. The flag was up for offside but nearly an excellent pass.

Cazorla plays in Alexis and Federici swings a leg to clear the ball. He clips Sanchez, who does tumble but makes nothing of it. Well done.

Dangerous cross from Debuchy and Alexis does well to leap for the header but it’s an easy claim for Federici.

Arsenal starting to stamp their authority on this game. Lots of possession and quick passing.

OZIL CLOSE! He curls a left-footed free kick that has Federici scrambling but it’s just wide of the keeper’s left post.

Lovely turn from Ozil. He looks for Welbeck who is chopped down by Chalobah. More of a coming together actually but a free kick nonetheless.

Really good little spell from Reading. No signs of being overawed at all.

Coquelin brongs down McCleary and Reading win a dangerous free kick. This is a chance. McCleary plays it in himself and Welbeck heads clear. It falls to Chalobah but his goalbound shot is blocked for another corner.

Good run from Mackie and he gets in behind Mertesacker. The flag goes up for offside but replays suggest he was on. Very unlucky.

So after that strong Reading start, Arsenal come closest to scoring. Shot comes in from Obita, well hit and well held by Szczesny.

CHANCE: The ball falls to Alexis on the edge of the box and his shot takes a deflection out for a corner. Mertesacker gets a good head on it and Federici saves well.
