United nearly score! Welbeck threads it to Hernandez and he dallies slightly too long before getting his shot away. It nearly falls back to Welbeck but Federici gratefully grabs it.

Chicharito does his usual pre-match prayer in the centre circle and referee Andre Marriner blows the whistle to get us underway here. I think they’ll be goals tonight. Both sides opting for 4-4-2.

There should be goals tonight. The clash between the two teams earlier in the season (in the Premier League) saw seven goals scored in the opening 35 minutes.

It looks a tough task for Reading tonight. Sir Alex Ferguson’s side have conceded just one goal in their last five FA Cup matches at Old Trafford.

This is the third time in the last four years that Reading have reached the FA Cup fifth round; and only the eighth time in their history. On each of the last two appearances, they have progressed to the last eight.

Brian McDermott: "Since I have been manager, I have been lucky enough to get a lot of great wins, coming from behind, and we were really unfortunate not to be able to do it again last week. Obviously we don't want to concede, but if we do, we know this team will keep going to the end. While you can't rely on a late comeback, you know if you are in that situation, the players have that heart and desire to come back."

Manchester United are unbeaten in 12 matches in all competitions against Reading (W8 D4). The last time they lost to Reading was in the FA Cup in January 1927.

Sir Alex Ferguson: "There's a good spirit in place and they're all contributing. Whatever side I pick we’re expected to qualify. That's what happens at United. Whatever team you play you’re always expected to win. I went to see Reading last week and they’re a team who are showing plenty of fighting qualities at the moment, as you’d expect given they’re down the bottom of the league. We'll take nothing for granted. In the FA Cup you always expect the unexpected. It happens so many times."

Should United overcome Reading, they may face Chelsea in the quarter finals, who face Middlesbrough in their 5th round tie.

Robin Van Persie has been left on the bench for United but Adam Le Fondre does at last get a start for Reading. Le Fondre has scored seven goals in his last seven appearances for Reading in all competitions. He also scored against Manchester United earlier this season.
