Sporting close in on Porto

Sporting Lisbon closed in on Portuguese Premier League pacesetters Porto with a 1-0 home win over 10-man Vitoria Setubal on Sunday. Porto, who beat Belenenses 2-0 at home on Saturday, head the standings on 13 points from five matches, one ahead of Sporting who have also played five.

Braga, who drew 0-0 at Estrela Amadora, and Nacional Madeira, held 0-0 by hosts Uniao Leiria, share third place on 11 points.
Setubal's Brazilian goalkeeper Moretto was sent off after 24 minutes for a foul on Sporting striker Deivid.
The resulting penalty by Brazilian forward Liedson was saved by substitute keeper Marco Tabuas.
Deivid struck the winner in the 35th minute, tucking the ball past keeper Chagas after a long pass from midfielder Paito.
South African striker Benni McCarthy scored his first goal of the season to help Porto clinch their fourth league win of the season against Belenenses on Saturday.
On Friday, striker Nuno Gomes scored two goals to guide champions Benfica to a 3-1 win at Penafiel.
Benfica's second successive league victory boosted their confidence ahead of Tuesday's Champions League match at Manchester United.
Their second successive league victory lifted them to eighth in the table with seven points from five games.
