Ruben Amorim admits 'anything can happen' when questioned on Alejandro Garnacho Man Utd future

Ruben Amorim conceded that "anything can happen" before the end of the transfer window when he was asked about the future of Alejandro Garnacho. The attacker, who started United's 2-1 win over Rangers on Thursday night, has been linked with a move to Napoli and Chelsea before next week's transfer deadline. Rio Ferdinand, meanwhile, said United fans want Garnacho to stay.

Ruben Amorim admitted "anything can happen" before the end of the January transfer window when asked about the future of Manchester United attacker Alejandro Garnacho.
Garnacho started in United’s 2-1 Europa League victory over Rangers at Old Trafford on Thursday night.
However, the Argentina international has been linked to a United exit in the past few days, with Chelsea and Napoli said to be competing for his signature
"I don’t know what will happen," Amorim conceded when asked by TNT Sports about Garnacho’s future. "Let’s focus on the games.
"We have these players, so let's improve the team and think about the players that are here. Until the window is closed, anything can happen."
In his post-match press conference, Amorim added: "I'm focussed on the games and this year. His play for Manchester United was really important for us today. Let's see in the next days.

"He's improving in every aspect of the game. He was better today playing inside, also outside, changing positions. He's improving his recovering position. All 90 minutes he's recovering and helping [in defence].
"Sometimes he's showing frustration, which is really good, because it means he wants more. He has the potential to be so much better in every situation of the game, so all I can say is he understood what I was trying to do."
Reports in Argentina have said Chelsea have made an official bid for Garnacho, while it has been widely claimed in the UK press that an approach has not yet been made, but may be imminent.
Former Manchester United centre-back Rio Ferdinand told TNT Sports that United fans wanted Garnacho to remain at Old Trafford, but added the 20-year-old may not fit into Amorim’s system.

‘They may listen to offers’ – Ferdinand on Garnacho's future amid Chelsea, Napoli links

Ferdinand said: "I think the fans were making their feelings very clear. They were singing his name – that’s a sign of how they feel about him. They love him here, they talk about him, they sing about him.
"He gets you on the edge of your seat. He’s exciting. He’s the one player who runs off the ball. He’s always very direct.
"But I think the system is the one thing that goes against him. Amorim doesn’t play with out-and-out wide wingers. He wants his wingers to start inside the pitch, and that’s not natural for Garnacho. I don’t think you see the best of him from those inside areas.
"So that will be one of the main factors that goes against Garnacho in terms of staying at the football club, and why they’re listening to offers, but there’s no doubt this kid’s got huge talent."
Ferdinand added: "I don’t think he’ll be the one initiating this move. I don’t think he’s the one going, ‘I want to leave’.
"I think he’s going, ‘you want me to go? You’re listening to offers? Right, if that’s the case, I’ll start talking as well'."
