AUSTIN COMES UP BIG!
Spurs showing they are prone to giving chances away, as a blasted cross from Kaderabek takes a slight nick on its way through to Tom Bischof - who is well-placed to take aim from close range.
Austin gets down superbly well to make the stop - a great reaction save - and Spurs breathe a sigh of relief.

SLIGHT STOPPAGE HERE
Robust challenge from Lucas Bergvall on Anton Stach gives both sides a slight breather.
A bit of time for Spurs to reflect on an overwhelmingly positive opening half hour.

HOFFENHEIM TRYING TO BUILD
We've seen this before, and Spurs fans will still be watching uncomfortably after having some healthy leads cut right back earlier in the season.
The Bundesliga side earn a corner, which is defended away with ease. But when the ball comes back in, a bit of pinball sees Max Moerstedt with the goal at his mercy from just yards out.
He fires straight into the hands of Austin, claiming he was hauled down in the process. But the ref isn't buying it, no blushes spared.

GOAL! HOFFENHEIM 0-2 SPURS (SON)
And down the other end, the visitors have doubled their advantage!
A slack pass backwards from Becker finds Nsoki and Akpoguma in no man's land, and Maddison is quick to latch on and hold it up for the onrushing Son.
He bears down on goal and sees his effort deflected - to his delight - over the head of Baumann and into the back of the net!

DANGEROUS FREE-KICK HERE...
Kramaric uses his experience and nous to buy a free-kick from minimal contact by Dejan Kulusevski...
It cannons into the wall.
The ball comes back into the box and Hoffenheim feel it is handled by Bentancur - VAR check to come.
But it is short, no penalty. That's that.

ANOTHER LOOK AT THE OPENER

SON SKIES IT
Another chance for the visitors as Son cuts in from the right, but his effort balloons over.

HODDLE FULL OF PRAISE FOR THE GOALSCORER
As a robust challenge goes in on Maddison, some time to air Glenn Hoddle's praise for the man who scored the opener.
"He is a player who can play with their head up," Hoddle said. "He looks at passes, he can play, he can score. He just needs that little boost of confidence.
"A perfect start, they have taken the ball away from Hoffenheim as well, they have go control of the ball and now they can play at the pace that they want to play at."

PORRO COMES CLOSE
Son plays a delightful ball into the fullback, who takes it in his stride and ends in a central position with the goal at his mercy.
It's on his left foot, though, and he drags an effort wide. Should be doing better there. In theory, Spurs could have had a few by now.

COULD HAVE BEEN TWO FOR SPURS
A great interception in the middle of the park from Rodrigo Bentancur, and he sets Richarlison in behind to forced Baumann into a smart, low save.
The ball ricochets into what looks like a dangerous area, but Maddison and Son are both found on their heels - allowing Hoffenheim to clear their lines.
You would expect at least one of them to follow that up.

AKPOGUMA IN THE BOOK
Maddison looks to break with another sharp turn of pace, but the Hoffenheim defender holds him back - a challenge worth a booking in referee Krogh's eyes.

SPURS RIDE PRESSURE AND BREAK AGAIN
Hoffenheim try to find an immediate response but can't work an effort beyond the Spurs backline.
Back down the other end, and Postecoglou's side are shifting it around, trying to find an opening.
It eventually drifts out for a goal kick, the incisive pass not being found this time.

GOAL! HOFFENHEIM 0-1 SPURS (MADDISON)
Wow! Spurs have the dream start. Ben Davies heads down from a Hoffenheim goal kick, and when it finds Pedro Porro in his own half, the fullback smashes an excellent long ball which picks out Maddison, who had drifted back into an onside position.
The ex-Leicester man takes it down nicely, and opens up an angle to power home a fierce strike - leaving Baumann no chance. Really well taken from the midfielder.

YOU HAVE TO LAUGH...
At least the Spurs boss can stay jovial in spite of his side's mammoth injury list...

17:40
PRAISE PILES IN FOR TEENAGER GRAY
It has been straight into the fire for 18-year-old Archie Gray since his summer move to north London from Leeds United.
He has figured in all sorts of different positions to aid Spurs' response to their mass injury issues, and it looks like he will be figuring at left-back tonight at Hoffenheim.
Peter Crouch has been impressed with the youngsters versatility in his debut season at the club.
"The Everton game was difficult," Crouch said. "He [Ange] has tried to play three at the back and it felt like the team were all at sea.
"But for him to go in at 18-years-old and play a position that is different for the first time in the Premier League, he has been very comfortable in possession.
"At times obviously, he has been a little bit exposed, but he has not had the help around him.
"I think he has done very, very well considering, he is definitely a fantastic footballer and I am looking forward to seeing him in his correct position."

17:35
LAST TIME OUT
It was a sobering defeat to Premier League strugglers Everton - going into the half-time break with a shocking 3-0 deficit at Goodison Park.
Spurs did manage to claw two late goals back, but it was not enough as they slipped to yet another league loss.
Only Leicester and Southampton have picked up less points in the last 10 top-flight matches, as pressure continues to build on Postecoglou and the Spurs squad alike.
They're still well-poised for a top-eight finish in the Europa League though, and victory tonight would set them up nicely for next week's final matchday.

ANGE EXCLUSIVE: SPURS WILL 'GET REWARDS'
Postecoglou is confident his players will "get the rewards" they deserve for their efforts in what has been an "extreme" season blighted by injuries and inconsistent form.
"Look, it's life," Postecoglou told TNT Sports. "I think it's just the nature of what we do.
"People are in the sort of mode of constant assessment and I think when you look at our form, particularly in the league, it hasn't been great, it has been inconsistent."

'SPURS SHOULD BE BEATING THIS TEAM'
TNT Sports experts Hargreaves and Crouch spoke about the Bundesliga side's struggles so far this term - with their poor form seeing Christian Ilzer replace Pellegrino Matarazzo as manager in November.
"They used to have a lot more talent in these Hoffenheim teams," Hargreaves said. "They're 15th in the Bundesliga for a reason, 27th in Europa League.
"With the utmost respect, Spurs should be beating this team. They don't have the firepower they used to have in the Champions League with Julian Nagelsmann. But they have a couple dangerous players."
Meanwhile, Crouch added: "It's not been a good season at all, disastrous really. Change of manager. They started off pretty well but had a terrible run, but they bounced back at the weekend."
