SPURS END AZ RESISTANCE TO SEAL QUARTER-FINAL SPOT
Wilson Odobert scored a glorious double as Totteenham completed a 3-1 home win over AZ Alkmaar to set up a UEFA Europa League quarter-final with Eintracht Frankfurt.
Trailing 1-0 from last week's first leg in the Netherlands, Ange Postecoglou's side assumed control of a tight affair with Odobert punishing some slack defending to convert Dominic Solanke's pass on 26 minutes before James Maddison glided a lovely second into the net from captain Son Heung-min's pass on 48 minutes.
But just when it looked like Tottenham would finish off the visitors, some poor defending by Lucas Bergvall and Odobert enabled Peer Koopmeiners to level the tie with a superb, thumping effort on 63 minutes.
To their credit, Spurs refused to panic and just about got the win they deserved when Odobert completed a 3-2 aggregate victory as he swept the ball into the net on 74 minutes after Solanke had flicked on a Djed Spence cross.
They will probably need to improve to trouble Frankfurt, who swept aside Ajax 4-1 earlier on Thursday to complete a 6-2 aggregate victory, but at least they got the victory they craved.

Wasn't easy for Kees Smit on the volley, and he ends up lifting the ball into the side netting on the volley. AZ piling it on here. Four minutes added to the 90.

Suddenly all the red shirts are camped in the Tottenham half as Vicario is off his line to gather a high ball. Kristijan Belic replaces Wouter Goes for the visitors, who are trying to force extra-time.

JOE HART ON 'CALAMITOUS' TOTTENHAM ERROR
"There's always been that threat in the game," said the former Spurs goalkeeper on TNT Sports. "No matter how well Tottenham are playing, they look like they can shoot themselves in the foot.
"It is calamitous really, and really slack.

MADDISON WITH ANOTHER FINE ATTEMPT AT GOAL
This could get very nervy for the Spurs fans in the closing moments. Tottenham have failed to put this match to bed and are living on the edge at the back. Was Lucas Bergvall and Wilson Odobert who gave up the ball for the AZ goal.

A MATCH FULL OF COSTLY MISTAKES
All the goals have come from players giving up cheap possession tonight. Trying to beat the press is okay as long as you beat it. Not sure Spurs even paid attention to Koopmeiners as he raced onto the ball.

GOAL! TOTTENHAM 2-1 AZ ALKMAAR (KOOPMEINERS)
Awful defending by Spurs at the back. Caught messing about in defence and Peer Koopmeiners races onto the loose ball to drill a fabulous shot into the corner of the net. What a gift! Back to 2-2 now.
