Switzerland 2-0 Iceland result - Geraldine Reuteler and Alayah Pilgrim goals keep hosts' hopes alive

Host nation Switzerland boosted their chances of progressing to the last 16 of Euro 2025 with a hard-fought 2-0 win over Iceland in Bern.

Having surrendered a one-goal lead to lose to Norway in their opening game, the Swiss needed a much-needed lift to kick-start their campaign in Group A.

It was turning out to be a frustrating night for the hosts at a sold-out Stadion Wankdorf until Geraldine Reuteler struck with under 15 minutes to play.

Substitute Alayah Pilgrim then doubled the advantage from a swift counter-attack in the 90th minute.

The result moves Switzerland into second place and sets up a crucial final group game with Finland, who currently occupy third.

Iceland, however, have been eliminated after defeat to Finland in their opening match.

That second Switzerland goal sees them leapfrog Finland into second spot in Group A and means the host nation need only a draw to progress when they meet the Finns on Thursday night.

The host nation keep their Euro 2025 dreams alive with a 2-0 win over Iceland, who are out of the competition.

Victory sealed in style!

Following a swift counter-attack, substitute Pilgrim leathers a shot at goal, it takes a deflection and leaves Runarsdottir with no chance.

Vallotto carves in off the flank and her cross sets up Pilgrim for a second. However, from point blank range, she is unable to beat goalkeeper Runarsdottir!

Switzerland have looked like a different team since making the breakthrough and are now playing with confidence and flair.
