ENGLAND REACH EURO 2025 FINAL WITH DRAMATIC COMEBACK WIN
England produced another extraordinary comeback to beat Italy 2-1 after extra time and reach the final of the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 thanks to goals from substitutes Michelle Agyemang and Chloe Kelly.
An organised and effective Italian side took the lead in the first half when they cut England open down the right to set up a chance for Barbara Bonansea to hammer home at the back post. And Italy held that lead right through until the 96th minute, when young substitute Agyemang kept her cool in the box to control the ball and finish through a crowd of bodies to force extra time.
Agyemang had barely featured for England before this tournament, but the wildcard pick has now scored crucial goals against both Sweden in the quarter-finals and Italy in the semis to save England, and she very nearly won it for England in extra time with a brilliant effort that cannoned back off the crossbar.
But the winner did finally come for England with 119 minutes on the clock, after the referee adjudged Beth Mead to have been fouled in the box to give a late, late penalty to the defending champions.
Kelly’s initial effort was superbly saved by Laura Giuliani, but the winger was sharpest to react to the loose ball and tucked home a second effort under the goalkeeper to prompt jubilant England celebrations.
Sarina Wiegman’s side will now turn their thoughts to Sunday’s final, where they will face the winner of Wednesday’s second semi-final between Spain and Germany.

MATCH-WINNER CHLOE KELLY REACTS
It was Chloe Kelly who tucked home the rebound from her penalty to send England through to the final, and she’s been speaking to ITV after the game, where she has also praised the impact of fellow substitute and goalscorer Michelle Agyemang.
"It weren’t supposed to go like that with the penalty, but I was ready for the rebound and ready for any opportunity given to me with an England badge. Big Mich at it again... and she should have scored again with that one that hit the crossbar. She’s an unbelievable player with the world at her feet. We have hope, we have belief and we have the quality. We just have to keep at it and keep working hard in training to make sure we’re at it at the weekend."

COMEBACK QUEENS STUN ITALY
Where on earth to start with that?
England looked on the brink of exiting the tournament as they went into stoppage time a goal down against an impressive and well-organised Italy side. But Michelle Agyemang produced once more to score in the 96th minute and force extra-time, and a late, late penalty was converted on the rebound by Chloe Kelly to send England through.
Italy will rightly be upset about the decision to give the spot-kick, which was really quite soft at such a pivotal moment, with a penalty shootout just moments away.
But the jubilant England team aren’t thinking about that right now as they celebrate out on the pitch in Geneva. Their journey in this tournament will continue right to the last.

FULL-TIME: ENGLAND ARE INTO THE UEFA EURO 2025 FINAL
The final whistle goes and players of both teams slump to the turf with the most contrasting of emotions. Extraordinary scenes in Geneva, as the defending champions sneak through to the final by the skin of their teeth. Remarkable.

GOAL! ENGLAND 2-1 ITALY (KELLY)
It’s Chloe Kelly who steps up for England and the goalkeeper guesses the right way to make a terrific save. It’s a wonderful save, but Kelly doesn’t give up and races to get to the rebound first, tucking a second effort underneath the goalkeeper to put England on the brink of the Euro 2025 final. 2-1!

PENALTY TO ENGLAND!
A cross comes into the box and Mead goes down with a defender’s arms wrapped around her. The referee points to the spot and the Italy players are absolutely furious. It’s soft, but that’s not a decision that will be overturned.

OFF THE BAR!
Oh my word, that was very nearly one of the great tournament goals from Agyemang. A long ball forward looks set to be mopped up by Italy, but she shows her pace to win the ball, chesting it forward into the box and holding off a second covering defender before sending a brilliant looping shot over the goalkeeper from a tight angle. The ball loops towards target but cannons off the bar, down into the box, and away to safety.

NOBODY UP IN SUPPORT FOR ITALY
Oliviero does superbly out wide for Italy and whips a dangerous ball across the face of goal, but the support is too far back and England survive.

KELLY CAUSING PROBLEMS
Kelly does really well down the right and wins a corner. Her delivery is lofted towards the edge of the box, but and England handball gives Italy the chance to clear their lines.

EXCELLENT AGAIN FROM HEMP
A wayward pass at the back looks to be fizzing out fir an Italy throw, but Hemp defies the minutes in her legs to dart back and slide to keep the ball in, recycling possession through Clinton to keep England rolling. That was outstanding.

WASTED CHANCE FOR ITALY
Bronze leaps into a challenge and gives away a free-kick in a dangerous area, but Italy don’t make the most of their free-kick opportunity, fizzing it straight into the gloves of Hampton.

BRILLIANT SAVE DENIES KELLY
Chloe Kelly whips a corner towards the far top corner and almost scores an Olimpico, only for a brilliant clawing save from Giuliani to send the ball around the post.

HALF-TIME: ALL SQUARE WITH 15 MINUTES REMAINING
The whistle goes to bring an end to the first half of extra time in Geneva. Both teams look out on their feet, but a place in the Euro 2025 final is on the line and they will throw everything at this.
103'
GOOD AGAIN FROM AGYEMANG
A good ball down the line is met by the run of Agyemang, who holds it up well to wait for the support arriving on the edge of the box. She picks out a dangerous cross that Beever-Jones can’t bring under control, but perhaps it was actually intended for the run of Toone a bit deeper, who was unmarked and would have been clean through.

HEMP COVERING EVERY INCH OF THAT FLANK
She’s been wasteful on occasion in the final third, but a lot of England’s attacking threat has come through Hemp, and now she’s playing as essentially an attacking wing-back on the left side, still running hard even as the clock has ticked beyond 100 minutes. It’s a serious effort.
