In terms of this result, England will keep their 100 percent record and it now seems a very real possibility that they will go through this entire Euro qualifying campaign without dropping a point.

This achievement by Rooney will spark a whole load of thinkpieces on Rooney and how he willbe remembered in the context of other England legends. Does he count as one of the best ever?

Rooney was taken off against San Marino at the weekend when he surely would have broken the record in that game, but I suppose it's fitting that he should reach that feat at Wembley.

Switzerland are pressuring the home side with a series of corner kicks, but for the moment England are holding out. This time it's Kane who's back to make the clearance.

Shaqiri puts the corner kick into the penalty area, but Barkley sticks to his task well and makes the clearing header at the near post - allowing England to fly out on the counter attack.

The delivery was too deep from the freekick. Milner whips a cross to the back post from the freekick, where Sterling was looking to get under the keeper, but Sommer makes the catch.

MILNER SAVES THE DAY! Klose barges through the centre of the England team, from front to back, but Milner is on hand to make the last ditch challenge to prevent the defender from having a shot at goal.

Sterling goes down in the box - he appeals momentarily - with the ball falling to Kane. The Spurs striker turns and tries to get the shot away at goal, but the Swiss sticks with him to make the block.

Rooney is coming so deep now that he is essentially just another member of the midfield. It's his natural instinct to play there, leaving Kane up front as the designated number nine.

I'm not sure about that decision from the referee. Smalling looked to win the ball cleanly from Shaqiri, but not only is he blown up for a foul - but he is shown a yellow card as well!
