Good afternoon! Welcome to live coverage of Wales versus Switzerland in Group A of the European Championship, live from the Olympic Stadium in Baku. Italy got off to a flier in this group last night, thumping Turkey 3-0 in Rome, and our two sides this afternoon will be looking to keep pace with them. This is Wales’ second European Championship on the spin, and Robert Page’s players will be looking to revive the spirit of 2016 where Wales embarked on a memorable run to the semi-finals. That’s a stage the Swiss team have never seen; they have just to progress beyond the last eight of a major tournament and will be looking to create history of their own. Team news off the wires from Baku shortly.

If you want to keep track of Wales' progress through the tournament allow me to recommend Feast of Football, a podcast that's now transferred to your tellybox. It's presented by Elis James - comedian, fan, pundit, writer, recent curator of their football history and about as reliable a pulse as you can find on Welsh football anywhere.

Switzerland went out of Euro 2016 in heartbreaking circumstances, losing on penalties to Poland in the second round. As they did so though, Shaqiri did light up the tournament with this stunning goal to take the match to extra time.

These two haven't played against each other for ten years, so there's not much history can tell us about what might happen today. For what it's worth, Wales have won twice and the Swiss have bagged five victories in their seven meetings to date.

We can't talk about Wales and the Euros without having a little nostalgic glance back to that quarter-final. Check out Craig Bellamy's reaction when Sam Vokes clinches the match at 5.49 here; that's what it means to put 58 years of not qualifying for a tournament to bed.

The Swiss have a very settled side too; manager Vladimir Petkovic has been in charge since 2014 and took the team to Euro 2016 and the 2018 World Cup. On both occasions he got them beyond the group stages, but no further. In this 24 team tournament where 16 teams advance to a knockout stages with a large amount of jeopardy in the draw, can he take them further this time? The great and the good of Swiss sport are all behind them.

So, how do you follow that? Wales' epic run to the last four in France five years ago was the greatest month in the history of the national side, and replicating that will be tough. The squad have also had to adjust to a change in manager, as due to legal proceedings against him Ryan Giggs stepped down to be replaced on a caretaker basis by assistant Robert Page. They have a settled squad and are on a good run in competitive matches; they won their UEFA Nations League group and only Belgium have beaten them in their last eight meaningful fixtures.

Switzerland are as expected, and their manager Vladimir Petkovic has identified today's game as the key one for his team. Fabian Schar has seen little playing time at St James' Park this year but is the central point of their back three. Liverpool's Xherdan Shaqiri plays in what Joe Cole calls 'the jam roll' - the hole - behind a front two of Borussia Monchengladbach's Breel Embolo and Haris Seferovic, the Benfica forward with 21 international goals to his name.

It's an attacking side from Wales; after a lot of debate, Kieffer Moore gets the nod as a central striker with the pace of Gareth Bale and Daniel James either side of him. 2016 stalwarts Joe Allen and Aaron Ramsey take up their places in the midfield. All 26 of Wales' squad are fully fit and ready to go.

And here are the Swiss:
