Inter Milan vs Juventus as it happened - the Nerazzurri end 11-year wait for Coppa Italia trophy

Juventus, of course, are the reigning champions of the Coppa Italia and have won it a record 14 times. Inter's last of their seven successes in this competition was back in 2011.

Simone Inzaghi has had his say: “That’s something we’ve spoken about. It probably would’ve been better to play the final at the end of the Serie A campaign, but the structure was set out at the start of the year. I’ve been involved in finals as a player and as a coach, and I don’t think it’s a problem to play just before the end of the league season.”

“Our aim is to win the cup tomorrow," the Juventus boss told the official club website.

"It will be a wonderful occasion. A match against a difficult team to face. We’ll need to show patience and lucidity, and above all play well.

"Reaching the Champions League is important but for Juventus winning is even more important. So far, we haven’t lifted a trophy yet but tomorrow we are in the final."

Inter have won their last two meetings with Juventus – as many as they won in 13 previous encounters (D4, L7). The Nerazzurri are in grand form at the moment, winning seven of their last eight games in all competitions.

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri will become the most successful coach in Coppa Italia history should Juventus emerge victorious this evening.

He has won this grand old cup four times in the past, level with Sven-Goran Eriksson and Roberto Mancini.

Juventus have reached the final of the Italian Cup 21 times, more than any other team, in part thanks to the recent run of seven finals in the last eight seasons - five of six of which have seen the Bianconeri raise the trophy.

With Alessandro Bastoni still not up to speed following a calf injury, Danilo D’Ambrosio completes Inter's back three.

Edin Dzeko is recalled and takes his place in attack along with Lautaro Martinez meaning Joaquin Correa is dropped to the bench.

Giorgio Chiellini captains Juventus, seeking to lift his 20th trophy for the club, while Dusan Vlahovic is supported by reported Inter target Paulo Dybala in attack meaning Alvaro Morata has to settle for a place on the bench.
