Casillas collects the ball and humps it to the left wing, and Barcelona quickly win it back.

Will Martino be sacked at half-time? I reckon definitely, yes.

GOAL! Real Madrid 1-0 Barcelona. Di Maria scores. Barca attempt to Barca the ball about, but Real counter attack, Benzema plays an excellent ball forward for Di Maria's run, breaking the offside trap (or possibly not) and smashing a shot underneath Pinto and over the line.

Iniesta comes in behind on Carvajal on the right wing, and Real take the free kick and attack down the right wing.

Iniesta dives with a ludicrous performance on the halfway line.

Benzema has a pass deflected and it still runs to Bale. He takes a turn to make space just inside the box and his shot is deflected just wide by Mascherano. The corner comes to nothing, and Real have a throw on the left wing.

A high ball is aimed over the top for Messi, but he can't get to the ball. At the other end, Bale runs onto a through ball and slides his shot wide of goal.

Carvajal slides in on Alba as he drove to the byline in the box, but gets a touch on the ball.

Isco bundles Neymar to the ground. He's booked. Pop quiz: do you know what happens when a player receives two yellow cards in the same match? Tell me on Twitter at @lxndrnthrtn.

Real have dominated the early stages of the match. Barcelona have the ball now, though.

We've kicked off. And I already miss Pep 'Pep' Guardiola and Jose Mourinho.

Is there a manager better at choosing jobs than Carlo Ancelotti? He appears to try for the period he is paid for, but beyond that does not give one solitary [redacted] if he's sacked. He's happy to move on to the next job. Real, PSG, Chelsea and Milan were his last four jobs, and he's not let anyone down, nor done something amazing. And yet he's still getting the jobs, and the cash. Well done, Carlo.

Real Madrid are missing Ronaldo, the better version of Superman, but they have Bale and Benzema. That will be enough to score, you imagine, but with Pepe and Ramos, they are just a loss of tempere away from a penalty and/or a red card.
20:10
Barcelona are still suffering at the back. Pique is not on the bench, and Puyol is. That means that in central defence they have Bartra and Mascherano, who is out of form, and then in goal they have Pinto. The lovely Pinto, with, I hope, no more dreadlocks.

Here is Johan Cruyff, father of the famous Jordi, on the troubles at Barcelona: “This is not my sort of Barca. Martino does what he can but it’s hard when they don’t let you work. For the last four years, Barcelona’s coaches have not been in charge.”

This game is possibly, and I'll be careful to avoid hyperbole, possibly the biggest thing to ever happen to football, Spain, and indeed humanity, ever. This is bigger than the Big Bang. This is the Biggest Bang. Is it any coincidence that Saturn is giving birth to a new moon? I think we all know the answer to that.
