The scoreline says 3-1 on aggregate but Athletic Bilbao came close to knocking Atletico Madrid out of the Copa here. They've played well over the two legs but in the end Simeone's side have put on a masterclass in soaking up pressure and hitting on the counter attack.

It's difficult to see where Athletic are going to get two goals in the final few minutes of this game. Atletico Madrid are doing a great job of suffocating the contest and Valverde can't change much else.

Atletico Madrid are sucking the life out of this game now. Whenever they get the ball they're keeping hold of it in their own half and whenever Athletic come forward they pack the defence and make it impossible for the opposition to break them down.

It's a genuine downpour at the San Mames now. The rain is pouring down, although the pitch is holding up quite well. Makes for some challenging conditions though. It's not pulling up but the surface is very slippy.

A poor pass by Herrera releases the pressure on Atletico Madrid, with Costa winning a freekick off Iturraspe, which isn't a popular decision with the crowd inside the San Mames.

Everything is a bit too methodical for the home side at the moment. They need to create some chaos! Yes, they're keeping the ball well but they need to get wide and get crosses into the box for the strikers to attack.

The home side now have two out and out centre forwards who are good in the air on the pitch now. They need to get crosses into them if they are to stage a comeback. That's how they scored the first goal tonight.
