CITY STUNNED AS AL HILAL PROGRESS TO QUARTERS
Manchester City were dumped out of the FIFA Club World Cup in the last 16 by Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal in Florida on Tuesday.
Kalidou Koulibaly and Marcos Leonard were both on target in extra time as Simone Inzaghi’s side set up an unlikely quarter-final clash against Fluminense, who eliminated Inter Milan.
City dominated the early stages and after Ruben Dias missed a free header from the edge of the six-yard box, Bernardo Silva scrappily poked Pep Guardiola’s side in front with nine minutes on the clock.
City continued to control the tempo as they pushed for a second before half-time, but goalkeeper Yassine Bounou made a string of saves to keep the Premier League outfit at bay.
In an electric start to the second half, Al Hilal equalised when Leonardo headed home after a goalmouth scramble, before Malcolm added a second five minutes later to stun Guardiola’s side.
But Erling Haaland quickly replied, stabbing home from a corner to level the score.
The two teams could not be separated as they headed for extra time in the sweltering Florida heat, and with the scores locked at 2-2, Koulibaly headed home expertly to give the Saudi side the advantage once more.
Phil Foden came off the bench to equalise within minutes, but Al Hilal finished the job when Leonardo grabbed his second of the game, prodding the ball over the line in the 112th minute.

They've done it again! Incredible!
A cross swings in from the left and Ederson saves the initial header, but he can only parry it as far as Leonardo, who is falling but finds his balance to tap home his second and Al Hilal's FOURTH!
