Manchester City v Al Ain LIVE - FIFA Club World Cup action City thrash Al Ain to secure passage to the knockout stages

Pep Guardiola’s side got off to the perfect start in Atlanta, with İlkay Gündoğan firing Manchester City ahead with just eight minutes on the clock. The 34-year-old shimmied past an Al Ain player inside the penalty area before chipping an effort over the goalkeeper and into the back of the net.

City continued to move the ball quickly and with purpose, looking to find gaps in the Al Ain defence.

Claudio Echeverri doubled City’s lead after 27 minutes with a pearl of a free-kick, firing his effort over the wall and past Khalid Eisa who was rooted to the spot. It was the 19-year-old’s first goal for City and what a way to score it.

Guardiola’s side won a penalty in added time at the end of the first half after Rami Rabia wrestled Manuel Akanji to the floor following a corner, Erling Haaland stepped up to send Eisa the wrong way and stroke his effort into the bottom right-hand corner.

Al Ain continued to struggle in the second half, remaining under constant pressure from the Premier League outfit.

Gündoğan scored his second and City’s fourth of the match with just over 15 minutes left on the clock. Bernardo Silva slipped a superb ball into Gündoğan's path who skipped past Amadu Niang before chipping the ball over Eisa.

City continued to pile forward in attack and Oscar Bobb got himself on the scoresheet five minutes from time, cutting inside from the right-hand side before lashing home.

Rayan Cherki scored his first goal in Manchester City blue just a couple of minutes from the end, being teed up unselfishly by Haaland before rifling his effort first time past Eisa.

Up next for Manchester City in the FIFA Club World Cup is Juventus on Thursday night. Both sides have already qualified for the knockout stages but will want to end their group campaign with a win, whilst Al Ain’s final group match is against WAC, also on Thursday.

With victory tonight, Manchester City have confirmed their passage to the Round of 16. They will take on Juventus on Thursday night in Orlando in a match which will decide who finishes first or second in the group.

City make it two wins from two in the FIFA Club World Cup, thrashing Al Ain 6-0 in Atlanta, Georgia.

Manchester City have been really ruthless in this match and even with a 5-0 lead, they are continuing to keep their foot on the accelerator, looking to get at the Al Ain defence at any opportunity and to find another goal.

Oscar Bobb has made it 5-0 with a great goal! He receives the ball on the right-hand side, cuts back in on his left-foot before lashing an effort past Eisa and into the back of the net.

Thanks to their victory tonight, Manchester City are into the knockout stages of the FIFA Club World Cup, Al Ain on the other hand will be eliminated come the full time whistle.

Ilkay Gundogan scores his second goal of the evening to put City 4-0 up! Bernardo Silva slips a wonderful pass into the middle of the penalty area for Gundogan to latch onto, he skips past Niang before lofting his effort over the Al Ain goalkeeper and into the back of the net. If it wasn't game over before, it definitely is now.

Man City work a move well, with the ball finding its way to Haaland who powers a header from the penalty spot straight at goalkeeper Eisa.

What a chance for Al Ain! Chadli latches onto the ball on the right-hand side, cuts in on the left, does brilliantly to find space to engineer a shooting opportunity but then gets his effort all wrong, blazing over the bar.

Khalid Eisa has pulled off two saves to deny Haaland a second and City a fourth goal here! After making the first save he got up brilliantly and back in position to deny the Norweigan with his second effort.

Oscar Bobb and Rodri are on for Abdukodir Khusanov and Nico Gonzalez.

So close to a spectacular goal from Nunes! The Portuguese international controlled the ball brilliantly with his chest, kept it up with two headers before lashing an effort on the volley just wide of the target. That piece of play deserved a goal!

Khusanov is booked. He is the first City player to go into the book at the FIFA Club World Cup this season.
