DORTMUND SURVIVE SCARE IN FLUMINENSE DRAW
Borussia Dortmund and Fluminense shared the spoils in an entertaining goalless draw at the MetLife Stadium, as the Bundesliga side rode their luck to claim a hard-fought point.
Nico Kovac's team were hugely disappointing going forward, and were arguably fortunate not to be on the receiving end of a defeat.
The Bundesliga side had Gregor Kobel to thank for an outstanding double save in the second half, denying Everaldo and Nonato in quick succession.
Fluminense always looked dangerous on the break, with Dortmund struggling to contain the likes of Jhon Arias, Matheus Martinelli, Everaldo, Hercules and Nonato, who all carried a constant threat.
In the end, it's not a bad point for these two sides, who will fancy their chances of claiming all three points when they return to action on Saturday.
Fluminense face Ulsan Hyundai, while Dortmund take on Mamelodi Sundowns.

KOVAC REFLECTS ON A 'LUCKY POINT'
An honest assessment from Nico Kovac following the match, as his side claimed a share of the spoils in New Jersey.
The Croatian reflected on a challenging tournament opener against the lively Brazilian outfit.
He told DAZN: "Fluminense played very well, we had some difficulties, especially in the first half. In the second half, I would say it was better, but overall I would say it was a lucky point for us.
"The pitch wasn't so easy for our players, and it was a surface the Brazilians are more used to.
"We were not as aggressive as I expected us to be in the first half, but we can live with a point.
"A draw against a Brazilian team is always a good start, but we have to win the next two games for sure."
