Flamengo 2-4 Bayern Munich - Harry Kane's double sends German champions into Club World Cup last-eight clash with Paris Saint-Germain

Harry Kane hit a brace as Bayern Munich defeated Flamengo 4-2 in their Club World Cup last-16 clash to set up a quarter-final meeting with Paris Saint-Germain.

The German champions were two in front within ten minutes as Joshua Kimmich's inswinging corner was flicked into his own net by Erick Pulgar and then Kane drove home a left-footed effort from the edge of the penalty area, with the aid of a slight deflection off Leo Ortiz.

Flamengo got back into the game through Gerson's rocket but Kimmich's own fine strike from 25 yards out restored the two-goal advantage at the break.

Although the Rio giants reduced the deficit to a goal once more, with Jorginho netting after Michael Olise handled in the box, they never really looked like getting back on level terms.

A fine low curling 20-yard finish from player of the match Kane sealed his side's place in the quarter-finals.

Bayern face the European champions next Saturday in Atlanta, in the likely marquee clash of the last eight.

It's a repeat of the 2020 UEFA Champions League final, which Bayern won 1-0.

Bayern had a few scares but they will generally be content at this performance, where they always looked like having too much for their Brazilian opposition.

Kane with a fine finish to put the game beyond doubt. Again Flamengo lose the ball in their own half with Laimer winning the ball and then Kimmich passed to Kane on the edge of the area and he expertly curled a low effort just inside the near post.

Henrique latched onto a long ball from Ortiz but with the ball bouncing high and Neuer star jumping out on the edge of his area, it was a tough effort and though he nudged the ball past the goalkeeper it was easy for defenders to clear.

He is penalized for hands in the face of an opponent. There didn't look much in it.

He thought he was pushed in the back by Sandro as he looked to head home Olise's centre but a number of Bayern players were offside as the kick came in giving the referee an easy out.

Kane slipped a ball through to the substitute, who got on the wrong side of the defender and after bringing Sane down Francwe went into the book.
